Al Dirty is not your typical Brooklyn rapper. Well, everybody from Brooklyn raps or can at least spit a 16 so I guess there is no typical anymore. I'm DIRTIER than all those suckas though. I basically base my life and career on the principle that I have to keep working, keep grinding and keep improving. A day where I don't do something productive to better myself is a wasted day. "Everything that is lost can be found again except for time."
I´ve been moving around a lot these past few years, living in Boston, Los Angeles and Brasil, but I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and my permenant home will always be there. I spent my youth hanging out on the stoops of Park Slope and in Prospect Park getting into trouble, but since I started rhyming, while my friends are out hustling or causing mischief, I've been writing or in the studio trying to get to the next level. Don't get me wrong, you can catch me at the club or in the bar gettin my little drink on or smoke or whatever, but I'd rather be in the lab concocting a hot song than at the bar trying to rap to chicks.
From 2003-2006, I hosted a hip hop show on the #1 college radio station in the country, 88.9, WERS, in Boston, MA. Before I bounced to LA, I was hosting Friday nights from 8-12 and it was non-comercial radio so I pretty much played what I felt. Had to throw some dirt on the airwaves, ya smell me. Check out that show on the net, www.wers.org (weekdays 10-2am), even though its not as hot since I left.
As far as my music, I try to be as real as I can. I talk about my life and shit that I know about in a context that I think other people can relate to. This ain't no super-thuged out shit, I ain´t talkin bout slingin yayo or``rims n´candy paint´´, but the music is real. And thats what it is to me; I hate people who smile in your face and give you pounds and hugs, and then shit on you and talk greezy behind your back. So DON'T do that. Just risk the heavy face slap and tell me that you think I'm an asshole.
Big ups to my man D.O.Ezy (Doeboy). We came up together with our group Dirty Duce, when we both had different names and put out our first album when were basically just kids (or at least I was). Nebulis Monk WHuT uP!
Also, shout to MacMillion, producer of the hood classic, Dirtywork, nahmean holla at us! And can´t forget the master himself, super producer Danny Dutch, my current cohort and partner n´crime. Shouts to Maxwell Smart, Philthy Rich and all my other affliates. My brothers, you know who you are.
Cousin Cash...my hype man and spiritual guide...look out for that dude as the host of my Dirty Laundry Mixtape series. He's a maniac...a wiggy wiggy.
That's about all I've got for you folks, the rest is in my music, so listen up and shout me down. I love my fans and I always want to know what y'all think. So hit me up. peace
