Awake The Hero was formed in February of 2005. Adrian and Raf
begin talking and realized that they had the same taste in music and
were looking to make that music. Adrian was already in a band but realized
it wasn't going anywhere and it was something he did not want to do.
He mentioned to Raf before that he was looking to start up a second
band, something more of a side project and Raf agreed to do it with him. As
the weeks progressed Adrian realized that this band wasn't going to be
a side project anymore and he quit his other band and agreed to
dedicate his time and passion to this band, Raf the same. Nick joined the
band immediately after Raf asked him to. Raf and Nick had been jamming
with each other for quite some time and Nick was looking for a band as
well. Towards the end of December '05 a new member was born. Jose joined
the band after many many long hard nights of practice and criticism from
the rest of the band. For one whole year and three months Awake The
Hero did not have a permanent bass player. They played shows and recorded
with numerous fill ins. In October of '06 Jeremy joined the band and
helped the band achieve certain goals.
In July 2007 Nick and Jeremy quit the band due to creative differences.
Raf, Jose, and Adrian were left to make the decision of whether they
should stay together or not. After a few days the band decided to stick
together and search for the proper replacements. Rob Ladwig joined the band in August 2007 and Chris Klummp joined the band in February of 2008 after filling in for numerous shows before. In March 2008 Raf left the band to persue other desires, Grant Gagie joined the band the month after. Rob later left for the band love or lust, Kyle stepped in on bass. The band has picked up right where they left off, playing shows and constantly growing and maturing.
Still, with lyrics that deliver an impactful positive message, spastic
drumming, simple yet tricky guitar rhythms, and well thought out bass
lines Awake the Hero has pieced together a work of art they can call
their own.
