About Me

Jason Buice (pronounced Bice) was born in the back alley of a Houston side street. The first thing he smelled was pancakes and cigarettes. He also heard the sound of Cowboy fans cheering their Superbowl win. His daddy bought him a guitar when he was three and he was hopping freight cars by the age of five. And boy could he sing the blues... like it was a part of his soul. "Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley," was a favorite back then to make him the nickel to get around the bend. By the time he was twelve, Jason played Phil Donahue, Oprah, and Arsenio Hall... ooh ooh ooh! Now America had become very familiar with the little boy who could sing and play the blues. The Mickey Mouse Club wanted a contract, but there was nothing doing with Mickey and friends. Jason wasn't headed for fame or being framed, he just was who he is... and so time passed a little more and he found himself on Sunset Boulevard in the rain one day outside a lady's club playing for men with big mustaches. A quarter here, a nickel there... enough to buy a drink or maybe a dance from one of the ladies inside. From there Jason started living the degenerate lifestyle of Jerry Garcia on a good day, which wasn't so bad. Things were colorful and he imagined notes floating from amps over the dreadlocks and mud soaked folk. The Dead asked him to tour since Rod Stewart had canceled that year so Jason met The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, U2 and others. For a short time Jason played studio sessions with O.J. (during his very brief musical career), but that was before, well you know... he did it. Anyhow, life on the tracks called him back to the trains and he was riding to Sarasota, up to Minnesota, off to Oregon, and down to Mexico. Jason had his own cooking show and his favorite recipe was toast. Then he settled down, had kids and moved into the basement to record sad songs about memories gone by, some refer to as life... and what a life he has lived... in his head that is. All in his head.
