Musically, I'm a late bloomer. I started playing guitar seriously in my mid 40s (I'm now 48), taking lessons and actually practicing. Started out learning blues riffs, and then shifted to classical and fingerstyle blues/Celtic/folk under the patient tutelage of Fran Capitanelli. Began composing a couple of years ago. Most of the songs I write are simple, fingerstyle, open-tuned, with a Celtic and blues feel. I'll throw in some slide every now and then for grins. I'm not blessed with a singing voice, or a knack for writing lyrics, so my work is all instrumental.
In addition to Fran and Mark, thanks to Jerry Burns for persuading me to play out solo for the first time; Eric Levin for letting me put on the Aurora shows (not to mention 16 years of friendship); Sabrina Scott and Joie Bullock for allowing me to play every week at Mocha Match; Blake Guthrie, Arepea and Java Monkey; Patrick Hill from the Earl; Chad Radford of A Cappella Books; Richard Cross at WREK (91.1 FM); Chuck DeFrancis, Shannon Mulvaney, Adam Renshaw, Christine Legnon, Anna Kramer, Pete Delorenzo, Jeff Evans, Mary Byrne, Kevin Haller, Barbara Johnson, Mikel K, Richard Parsons, Patrick Weadock, Chris Daresta, Lillian Lai-Hughes, Jason Hughes, Curt Wells, everyone at Earthshaking Music, The Annunaki, and Greg Gallagher for their friendship and support.
Thanks to Gail and Wells for letting me be me. I love you.
