The Alexander Technique is a century-old method of learning how to release harmful stress from your body and improve your physical functioning; his sets and productions could not be any more true to this definition. In a growing demand for hard hitting electronic music, Alexander Technique supplies the masses with a barrage of aural masterpieces.
DJ Alexander Technique is known in the industry as a true innovator, a creative and driven artist with an overwhelming passion for music. Alexander became fascinated with electronic music at a young age, and began djing at 15. His attraction to the music business grew and at age 19 he opened Massv Records, one of the first independent electronic record stores in New Jersey, in order to provide and share music with other enthusiasts. For 5 years, Alexander pushed product and helped build a strong community of young DJs and musicians before deciding to close shop and start touring.
In 1999, Alexander teamed up with underground pop sensation, Princess Superstar and embarked on a worldwide tour together across the globe. Thus Alexander Technique was able to showcase his live skills as he captivated audiences with unbelievable scratches and on point mixes. The duo was featured on Top of the Pops, and performed at major music festivals including Coachella and The Central Park Summer Stage together with artists N.E.R.D., Bjork, The Chemical Brothers, Z-Trip and many more. During their endless travels, the duo had an epiphany: DJs ARE NOT ROCKSTARS.
Performing as DANR, Alexander Technique continued his collaborations with Princess Superstar, spinning alongside dance music turntable royalty like 2 Many DJ's, DJ Hell, Felix Da Housecat, Junior Sanchez, The Glimmers, Tiga, Miss Kittin, Headman, and Jacques Lu Cont (Stuart Price). The two mixed punk, electro, hip hop instrumentals on 45, classic rock & 80's standards, creating an incredible new dance hybrid that moved the crowds worldwide. The duo did a two-year run of radio shows on London’s KISS 100 FM, which became extremely popular in the dance music community and released their self titled mix on Gigolo Records featuring 46 tracks mashed into 1 hour of mind blowing madness. Later, DJs Are Not Rockstars released a 12" vinyl of popular re-edits including, "Pop Your Pussy" and a dance version of the Pink Floyd classic, "Education" as well as 2 EP’s, “V.I.P†(Luscious Sounds) and European Accent (Eskimo Recordings). In 2005 Alexander Technique produced & co-produced tracks on Princess Superstar's, "My Machine", and embarked on yet another tour as part of her live band in support of her new concept album.
Alexander Technique bridges the gap between rock, hip hop and electronic music with his popular mash-ups and remixes of bands like Joy Division, ESG, Duran Duran, The Cure, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, 50 Cent, Jay Z and The Beastie Boys making his tracks club staples that are being played out by DJs worldwide. He has played The Istanbul Film Festival in Turkey, EXIT Festival in Serbia, NagNagNag in London, the World Snowboarding Championships held in Switzerland and he most recently toured Australia in collaboration with One Love. He’s been numerously featured in countless publications including, URB, BPM, DJ Magazine, DJ Times, and XLR8R earning praise for his illustrious parties and banging tracks. Of late, Alexander received praise in Time Out New York for his furtherance of popularity with his DANR events in New York City.
Bringing Darlove on board with him, Alexander Technique is now launching his new DANR Collective Record Label along with a new party at Brooklyn’s Paloma in May 2008 which will feature DJs like Stretch Armstrong, Motor, Princess Superstar, Junior Sanchez, Van Scott, Shaka 23 & many more. Alex continues to work on personal productions as well as numerous remix projects as he also focuses on upcoming tours. It is his true love and dedication to music that has earned him respect worldwide as one of the most innovative DJ/producer/remixer of today.
