GOT LYRICS?
Spoken Word Unites St. Louis: I AM SO GLAD THAT I KNOW THESE PEOPLE ST. LOUIS, MO. – St. Louis has been missing a "weekly" therapeutic, spoken word/neo-soul night due to the three month hiatus of Got Lyrics hosted by Mocha Latte’. Starting October 24, 2007, Wednesday night is back on track. Got Lyrics will be reintroduced at the new location, Van Goghz Martini Bar and Bistro, 3200 Shenandoah Ave. , from 7pm to 12am each week. Admission is $3.00 for poets and $5.00 for audience. Sharee Galvin better known as Mocha Latte, the poet/promoter, has been writing poetry since age 16. Mocha's passionate spoken word writing style was inspired seven years ago by her survival of an abusive relationship. The pain she experienced taught her to use adversity to embrace change. Got Lyrics, formally known as Lyrics of the Lou, was created as a weekly open mic “therapeutic session" which invites lyricists and singers of all walks of life to unite while sharing their pieces of verbal art. Van Goghz Martini Bar & Bistro, voted Best Creative Cocktails by Alive Magazine in 2006, is located in South St. Louis , hosts parties up to 150 guests, and is most artfully described as a masterpiece painted with great people, great drinks, and great decor. Ginger Austin, owner, is excited for the launching of Got Lyrics. “We have been looking for a way to encourage diversity and I think Got Lyrics offers us that chance.†I WANT TO MEET LIKE MINDED PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY WANT OUT OF LIFE AND ARENT AFRAID TO GET IT!
