Singer/Songwriter

About Me

GENRE: My live performances resonate with layers of Indie Folk with some compelling Pop hooks and a smattering of Jazz whispers.PERFORMANCE: I've enjoyed playing my original tunes in local venues since 1998 - coffee houses, stores, art galleries, parks events and festivals. Now that the kids have grown I'm looking forward to gigging far and wide. As Walt Whitman says "Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road, healthy, free, the world before me..."SONGWRITING: I've been honing my singer-songwriter craft since age 17. My very first song was about tea-drinking candlelight hours on the sultry Cape Cod shores of Massachusetts. Since then I've documented my life in songs, the subject matter reflecting the current phase I am in. I love painting 3-minute pictures of what I see, feel, love and yes, even an occasional ode to what I hate-- after all, life is the entire package, not merely the fine wrapping.MUSICAL DNA: My paternal Grandmother Mildred played and taught piano and my maternal Grandmother Jeanne was an actress but also composed her own songs and accompanied herself on the piano. My parents, Max and Suzanne Lester, filled our home with the sounds of classical music (vinyls) as well as 'The Sound of Music', 'Peter and the Wolf', and all those traditional Christmas records they pulled out on Thanksgiving Day to usher in the holidays. My mom bought a family piano when I was in 4th grade only if I'd agree to take lessons till I graduated!! My brother Steven introduced me to all the cool music of the 60's and 70's ~ he still owns the largest vinyl collection I've ever seen!
