My name is "D"!
I am the Guitarist for the independent recording band ZOYA. We are a comercial Metal band along the lines of Godsmack, Pantera, Rob Zombie, Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, etc.
I play a Dean Dime O Flame, a Dean Brazilian Burst Tribute MLF, & a ESP Dave Mustain King V. I am currently using Carvin Amps & Cabinets & a Boss multi effects unit I drive this rig with the Mighty Rocktron Voodu Valve. I put Dimarzio pickups in every Guitar, PAF's in the neck & SUPER DISTORTION's in the bridge. I like the Evolution for non-whammy guitars.
Ok, about me...
I started playing guitar when I was old enough to hold one, when I was ten I started studying at Williaim Jewel privatly. I took leasons from one of the teachers there. I kept it up till I was 21. Who made me pick up the guitar? It was Ace Frehley of KISS. I heard KISS ALIVE & I knew I had to play guitar like that. I was turned on to a lot of guitarist at that age (10-12) by a neighbor who was a lot older than me. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Jimi Hendrix, Ted Nugent etc. I got my First Real Guitar back then A Dean Cherry Z. Then the day came when it happened, Eddie Van Halen. I was blown away! Then the gods began to pop up everwhere. Randy Rhoads was next with OZZY. I got my second Dean a Blue Burst ML. The Metal just kept getting better Judas Preist Iron Maiden Metallica Megadeth Slayer. Then PANTERA!!! The overlord of Metal Guitar Dimebag Darrel! His death like Randy Rhoads really floored me. I liked Dime the best from 90's on, but "J" of White Zombie was always someone I considered real cool. Well I still got Zakk Wylde.
I played my first club when I was 15. In the early 80's I moved to Pheonix & played in Metal Beast an early version of Flotsem & Jetsem. Jason Newsted was the bassist at the time you may know him from Metallica. Only one original we played "Iron Tears" made it to the Flotsem & Jetsem Metal Blade debut CD "Doomsday for the Deciever". I came back to KC & we started tearing up clubs as Illusive Fate me & Rimmy. We tore up KC!
We were wrote up in national magazines & we had label interest. But the band fell apart in 1992 after 1 album & an EP.
In 2000 we formed ZOYA & have been watching Metal History unfold ever since!!!
