About Me
WHAT A LAUNCH PARTY!!The 150 seater venue was packed to capacity for Vincent's Debut EP Launch!!
The Who's Who of Cork's entertainment business turned out in their droves to support this fine, talented musician!!
The night started out with a darkened room, candles and just the right mix of onstage lighting to turn this into an intmiate setting for the nights events..
Instinct graced the stage at just a little after 8 with their line up of popular songs from the 80's right up to the present day chart topping hits... Speechs were kept short, but effective and Mr. Andy Reynolds who produced this fine EP was on hand to officially hand over the first cd to Vincent which was definately a proud, proud moment for him!
Vincent then graced the stage to perform live...... WOW!!!
His live rendition of story of the blues left people standing in the aislies wondering what it was they had just heard...... Show stopping would be an understatement for the passion and emotion Vincent showed as he belted out that dirty guitar solo that finishes the song so well... people didnt know whether to clap, or stay numbed by his performance!
He also performed a beautiful acoustic version of It's Probably Me and again with that, you could hear a pin drop, he held the audience in his hand from the very first guitar pick right up to the end when he broke into the opening bars of Fragile... a truly beautiful touch.
I GOT THE MUSIC IN ME HAD THEM ON THEIR FEET CRYING FOR MORE!!!!!
The crowd went WILD.. they were ecstatic.. after a rapturous applause, the cd sold out within 2 hours!
This adding to the point that the first order received sold out on pre-orders!
So to finish the night, Mr. Andy Reynolds of CeolNua ( www.ceolnua.com )
started a DJ set that truly saw the best of his own mixes come to life.. amazing set...
So, Vincent is now taking a few well deserved days off!! so We will be checking back in here soon!
I Like It, I Love It, I Want some more of it.................and there will be more........................................................
.......................A native Corkonian, Vincent’s association with music goes back to his early teens. At 14 his father gave him a present of a new acoustic guitar and it was the start of a passion that would last a life-time.
As soon as he started to take lessons his keen musical ear fell for Thin Lizzy and Gary Moore. “It was the guitar playing more than anything else that interested me,†says Vincent. In his later teens he turned his attention to music theory, deepening his understanding and love for music. By now he was playing Jazz and Classical pieces. He completed several examinations through the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music and Trinity College Dublin.
His early outings as a performing artist were mainly solo gigs in the city and county of Cork. At that time the music he played was main stream pop-classics. But he yearned for other things..
In the early nineties Vincent teamed up with the Tony Stevens Showband. His audience base had now spread across Ireland, Northern Ireland and the surrounding districts of London.
In London the Irish clubs were still big business. Clubs like The Galtee More, The Hibernian, Chelsea and The Gresham on the Holloway Road were regular gigs in his calendar. Vincent was the band’s main exponent of rhythm and lead guitar as well as backing vocals.
Vincent was playing up to five nights a week on both sides of the Irish Sea. He was on the crest of a wave in his career when a Christmastime near-fatal road accident brought his career to an abrupt halt.
Within eighteen months he was back at the microphone. He secured a scholarship to attend the Leeds College of Music and earned his dip. Music Theory & practice. While there he completed his thesis on that legendary exponent of jazz guitar, Django ReinhardtSince returning to Cork Vincent divides his time between playing and teaching music.
“The title track of the E.P., It’s Probably Me is as rich lyrically as it is musically,†says Vincent. It’s a song that reaches the darker side of a soul too and that can be a bit scary.
“I Got The Music In Me†is a fun, upbeat song. An old pop-classic that I recently uncovered. The reaction to it has been amazing, even among the younger part of my audience, many of whom had not heard the song before.
“The Story Of The Blues,†is perhaps, Vincents true anthem, as a singer, as a guitarist and as a man. “This song is my touchstone,†says Vincent enthusiastically. This is the song that’s different every time. Sometimes I play it, other times it plays me.
The chosen tracks for the new E.P. are in some ways, a culmination of a career that has spanned four decades. A career that started with rock and blues and diverts at times to jazz, classical, Irish and pop but always, always returns to it’s roots. The story of the bluesSo, August 27th 2007, while sitting over a cup of tea with his manager Aisling, Vincent revealed that he always wanted to record a single "Just for fun", and that's how this whole EP came together!
Aisling had the studio booked for Sept 10th, 2pm BPM Douglas with Finny Corcoran..... Session went well!! very well... They were both elated with the outcome now knowing that 3 weeks down the road they were going to be back in that very same studio re-recording the whole thing!!!!
Aisling Got Andy Reynolds of CeolNua to come on board and produce the EP and add his own remix into it.... the outcome has been amazing!!!
the launch started in a small venue, maybe would have got 100 people at a push into it, didnt really think that they would even fill it!!!, they had to move from there to a venue that held maybe 150 at a push, now it's at a bigger venue and it still seems like they gonna need somewhere bigger!
Publicity run on Novmeber 3rd really gave Vincent an idea of how big this was going to be! Every dj in Cork is crying out for this EP at the moment!
