Music. Instruments... if I don't play it yet, lemme get my hands on it. This bitch: http://www.myspace.com/jenfoldsmusic Chain smoking. Burninating the countryside. Burninating the peasants. Looting. Pillaging. Scandalizing the wenches. Corrupting the innocent. Dominating the stage. Microphones and amplification. Reverb(!) Knowing my strengths, using my assets and embracing my weaknesses. Unrequited love. Sexual tension. Being "of a fondness". Snuggles. Charcoal and fingerpaints getting my hands dirty enough to let the pretty things out. Watching draught guiness settle. Paneer tikka masala. My kittycats (bast and meher). Making potions and candles and incense. Fairy lights. Wearing black. Wearing all the colours all at once. Going barefoot. Climbing trees. Absorbing sunshine on the grass with my guitar. Being outside with no umbrella drinking in the raindrops, jumping into puddles like grownups never let us do. Talking to the stars, the real ones you can't see in the city, and knowing they talk back. The ocean at night when the bonfires have all gone out and you're the only one in the world. Travelling. Flying on airplanes. Roller coasters. And... that's all I can think of at the moment.
Radiohead. The Beatles, Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Sigur Ros, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Beck, Travis, The Beastie Boys They Might Be Giants, Billie Holliday, Kate Bush, Bjork, Tori Amos, Portishead, Muse, Devendra Banhardt, Ryan Adams, The Eels, PJ Harvey, the Smiths, Rufus Wainwright, the Velvet Underground, Ben Folds--With or without the Five, Air, Ween, , the Dresden Dolls, Smashing Pumpkins, The White Stripes, Nirvana and countless others.
Independent films mostly (cos they have to work harder); comedy that's clever enough to be funny without being cheap, anything beautiful and ethereal and yet somehow fucked, (stanley kubrick, tim burton, neil jordan etc) tho I'm surprised whenever I can sit idle for 90 minutes.
Fuck TV. Except the Daily Show. Oh...Arrested Development. And if my room mate is watching Adult Swim sometimes I get sucked in. Meatwad is sexy.
Too many. At any time I will be reading at least one book on personal spiritual growth/practice/related stuffs and at least one other book for pleasure.. here are some I've enjoyed: The Dark Tower series, the Vampire Chronicles, the Golden Compass, T.S. Eliot, Robert Browning, Neil Gaiman, Poppy Z.B., Lewis Carroll, (most stuff by) Stephen King, Hunter S., Dave Barry, Jack Kerouac, Kurt Vonnegut, Dave Eggers, Dave Barry, The Pirates!and their adventures, Sherlock Holmes, Poirot, the Tao te Ching, Autobiography of a Yogi, Harry Potter (yes, shut up) and most comic books. Calvin and Hobbes rocks my socks. (!)
John Lennon, Meher Baba, Frank Zappa, Yogananda, Jon Stewart, Alice in Wonderland. Oh and anyone who cares to help me learn to play the cello, as I've only now reached the "doesn't sound like a cat being strangled" phase.
