About Me
New Dawn was a band that formed and disbanded within a years time between 1999 and 2000. There were some attempts to keep the band going afterward (the two most notable were with Daryl Williams and Eoff the Drummer ), but nothing ever came of them. This page was set up more to show what we accomplished, for fans of ours back then, and for fans of the bands we're in now that want more material. Please keep in mind that we were all very young when these songs were recorded, and our vision was much larger than our ability. We could barely hold our instruments when we stepped into the studio, but it gives these recordings a raw and sincere feeling. Hope you enjoy! The Songs:War (Dorn)- Without a doubt our flagship song. It was the first song we learned, and one of the more popular.Tami (Dorn)- This song was an accident. Written for the sole purpose of embarrassing a friend of the band, it was recorded with some extra time we had in the studio. By chance it became one of the more popular songs we recorded. Please don't take this one seriously.Fear (Dorn, Dan)- Cool lyrics and cool vibe. Not much more to tell.New Dawn (Dorn)- A kind of Pink Floyd-ish song. We were booked for a show under this name, and it stuck, despite the fact that some of us didn't like it.Suicide (Dorn)- Another one of the first songs written. We often skipped practicing it, because it was too depressing.Sealed Within (Dorn, Dave, Mott)- This song was recorded at the same time as the above five, but it was never given out to anyone. For some reason we thought we shouldn't include it in our demos, because it was too sloppy. Go figure... the entire demo was sloppy, so it's anyone's guess what we were thinking.Broken Thorn (Dorn, Dave)- This song was recorded towards the end of New Dawn, and it really shows where we were going. Unfortunately, Mott was unable to do this one with us, so we had a session drummer by the name of Bill King sit in.Cure in the Bottle (Dorn, Dave)- One of our rarer songs, all that exists of this is a live recording done on a four track. The riffs were later used for 'Cryo' by My Space Box.No Use for a Name (Dorn, Dan)- This was one of our more popular songs, but we unfortunately do not have any recordings of it. However, there were some live recordings (audio and video) made at shows we played. If anyone out there has recordings of New Dawn, please let us know. It would mean very much to us! :DWelcome to my World (Dorn, Enticknap)- A heavier song with some truly twisted lyrics written by a friend of the band's. Same thing goes for this song as 'No Use for a Name'... if anyone has any recordings, we would greatly appreciate it.Give us an add, and check out some other stuff we've done: Space Box 2 , Tired of Dreaming , The Hollow Axe , The B-Movie Theremins , Walk the Road , No Signal , Pain Tolerance , The Stone Brothel .And check out Red Gale in the months to come.
