About Me

Music is the soundtrack of life, I say. I was born in paradise Venezuela, in the city of Sunsets and Music, Barquisimeto. I grew up with all kinds of music around my house. I have travelled the world and lived in the U.S. for a long time. My dad a great singer of folk music, Tangos and Bossas, il mio Nono and his operas, my older cousins with Led Zeppelin and Miles Davis, an open format radio with all kinds of music. And don't let me forget seranading!...yes like you've read in books and watched in movies? It is still alive in my beautiful home country, so I would grab my violin since I was very young and play along with the older and experienced 'serenateros', making up stuff and learning to play what was in my ears. All that combined with a solid classical training with some of the best violinists in the world makes me feel like I am dreaming it all. So since my background is very diverse so my music has to be diverse too. These tracks are either from my first solo album "Heading North", or the one I am currently working on "Global talk", a Techno/World/Trance/Latin/Rock melting pot with the great Malek lending his words of wisdom to color to my music. Keep in touch...much more to come including a show of my acoustic side (where it all began)! Teaching is also an essential part of my life, I do clinics and workshops all over the world taylored to the specific needs of each school or camp (Feel free to inquire about that too) and of course I freelance, but only with the people that I have something in common with, so come on down and check some shows out. I love to play live!Much Love to all, JF

Band Members: This is a long one. The people on my top friends are some of the people I work with lately and other artists (Friends!) on which recordings I have participated. Hattler's new record just came out and I play on two tracks and he is way cool. On my personal side, I have a Latin Jazz Quartet with my buddy Belford Hernandez (Piano) in Chicago (Recording in the works). A incredible Project with Pianist/Composer Miguel Kerstman is in the works too, hold on to your seats for that one. Miguel is also writing a Violin Concerto for me to premier sometime in 2008. Nima Rezai is my best friend so I cannot tell you how excited I am about our next 2 projects together, groundbreaking. Global Talk is almost ready!...busy, busy, busy! Heading North, Gitano and Ultra are from my solo CD Heading North, with Carmen Rizzo doing the programming and mixing on Gitano and Ultra. But I also play with many other people from many other styles including Flamenco, Salsa, Rock and World...life is too short you know?. So check out my calendar to see what I am up to. Grazie, JF
