This Charming Ben

This is going to hurt.

About Me

6'4", Cancer, California elitist (born & raised). Humility has no place in my life. I spend two hours getting ready every morning. I brush my teeth for 10-15 minutes daily. I have thus never had a cavity. I have a pompadour which I try to keep in perfect form when at all possible. I'm a snobby music elitist. I am among the biggest Morrissey fans on the planet. I'm seriously OCD about a few things, including hand-washing and CD-collecting. I am deathly afraid of spiders. I will not puposely kill an animal or bug. I am a vegetarian. It's worth mentioning, however, that I would absolutely kill and/or eat human. Seriously. No... seriously.
I currently play in This Charming Band , likely the closest thing to the Smiths since the Smiths. I suppose most other Smiths/Morrissey tributes also started out with that goal. But this one is different, because it's us. If you don't believe me, well... why don't you find out for yourself?

I'd like to meet:

Morrissey fan types, rockabilly/rockabettie types, emotionally stable types. I like confident people, people who contribute to the conversation, people who bring something to the table. I like narcissists like me. If you don't love yourself, why would anyone else? So yes, I'm very black and white, and very unforgiving. Notably, if you are taller than I am, I will avoid you. If you listen to shitty music, I will ignore you. If you like to hunt or fish, I might actually kill and eat you.

Rooted In The Me

Can you believe that it's October already?  The last year went by so fast.  :( Time is, as ever, speeding up.  And I know I say that a lot, but really this has been the fastest yea...

The Call Of The Great Indoors

Well I did end up getting that "sun nap" in a week ago, if you're interested.  Sunday afternoon was actually pretty sunny, and in an extremely un-me-like fashion, I sat out on my balcony in my sh...

Making Lemonade

Well, I feel like there's been no shortage of lemons lately.  To keep it simple, let's just say I've had a pretty stressful few weeks, and though it's getting better, it continues.  Too much...

Emerging From The Rubble

After a relatively hot week here in San Francisco, my beloved fog finally rolled in again today, and I'm enjoying a rare peace.  There's no telling how long it will last, but for howeve...

Well I guess the Olympics are finally over, huh?  Despite the many, many things that went wrong, at least we were all introduced the smokin' hot javelin thrower from Paraguay, Leryn Franco. ...

Frankie Say Relax?

I've spent the last week in several appointments trying to get as much of a handle on what's going on with me as I can.  All the evidence seems to point to me having high anxiety and panic, which...

The land that I stand on is mine.

I've been on a bit of a self-improvement kick lately, and part of that has led me to explore some of the holes in my musical education.  And being that I'm mostly self-taught, there are a lot of ...
