About Me
http://cdbaby.com/cd/arturotappinArturo is definitely the smoothest, saxiest horn man the Caribbean has to offer. His dynamic and spirited live performances have won him fans the world over. He made headway with his debut recording “Strictly Roots Jazz†and then immediately followed up with a stellar performance on his second album entitled, "Java", both licensed by Pioneer Records in Japan. For his cultural contributions to Jamaica and the Caribbean on the whole, Arturo recently received a nationally acclaimed Award of Excellence in the Arts from former Jamaican Prime Minister PJ Patterson.Tappin has dazzled audiences at the Soho Jazz Festival, the Bob Marley Birthday Bash and Reggae Sunsplash, as well as headlining Jazz Festivals throughout the Caribbean. He has toured with the legendary Roberta Flack, Reggae Star Maxi Priest, R & B chart topper Anita Baker, Jamaican Jazz pianist Monty Alexander, Smooth Jazz crooner Will Downing and R & B singer, Freddie Jackson. Besides touring Arturo has served as the Musical Director for Eddy Grant as well as recorded with Grammy recipients Ralph Mac Donald, and the late great Luther Vandross. It’s no wonder his latest CD “INSIDE OUT†conjures up feelings of pleasure and intrigue. The album features ten original compositions, all of which exquisitely display a superb blend of mesmerizing melodies and deliciously deep penetrating grooves, encouraging the listener to hold on with anticipation. “Mia Amorâ€, “Smell your Own Finger†and “Life†are just a few of the originals included on the album that demonstrate his natural musical dexterity. “INSIDE OUT†also includes brilliantly crafted covers of “Unfaithful†and “Tempted to Touch†originally recorded by fellow Barbadians Rihanna and Rupee, testimony of Arturo’s reverence to his homeland. When asked what his future plans are in music he simply responded “Listen, practice, play, record.â€

Another inspiring and passionate piece of work by a truly talented and dedicated artist. Every piece takes you to another level. Although they are renditions of other songs, the arrangement and the passion with which they are done makes them all original. Listening to this CD is truly heavenly. Great gift for every occasion.

Soul-Satisfying
author: Amala
In December I resolved to buy a soul-satisfying CD each month of this year. Inside Out was my January CD. From beginning to end this CD rocks. Actually I heard some of the tracks live before I got the CD. It lived up to my expectations. The use of the different saxes and flute is excellent. At the time I bought the CD both Crazy and Heaven Only Knows were in heavy rotation so it was great to get an alternative rendition. My personal favourite on the album is Life. The warmth in this track is heavenly. The CD really covers all moods and all genres, there is something for everyone inside and out!! Definitely a must have.

OMG!!!! just read this article.... Great night of opera Published on: 3/25/07. by CAROL MARTINDALE IT was a night at the opera. The full range of operatic voices – contralto, tenor and scintillating sopranos floated across parts of St James. It was Wednesday when Holders Season pulled off yet another exciting night, staging The Operas of Mozart at the immaculate, well-manicured and sparkling grounds at Holders in St James. One of the highlights of the evening and certainly one of the rare spectacles was a saxophonist sharing the operatic stage. But not just any saxophonist. It was Barbados' own internationally acclaimed Arturo Tappin. Sauntering on stage with his saxophone, Tappin showed just how versatile and comfortable he was in what some may regard as "unfamiliar territory". But what a job he did, and the audience did not hold back in showing their appreciation for the noted musician. Then, with "bubbly" in hand, poured by Virgin Atlantic, also sponsors of Wednesday night's event, and shared to the six singers on stage, the curtain came down on an evening at the opera. It was A Taste of Champagne.

Classy, funky, sexy, soulful music for sax lovers everywhere!

Arturo Tappin..."SAX OF THE LION"...your music is grrrreat!!!!! Every song is a burst of funk at its finest! Full bodied, body rockin' and heart pounding party pure, this fan is forever in your hip pocket. Of course, if when clicking the first treat on your musical menu, one can get past blushing, "Smell Yuh Own Finga" delivers in double deluxe flava of soul, funk, jazz and big band feeling. Why I could hardly tap out the keystrokes on my keyboard to write this review, cause my body wouldn't stop its own rhythmic interpretation of the song's deep penetrating groove. Ooops, did I give it away? And....adding to my amazement, "It Always Gets Better," like the song implies, is as robustly joyful and competitively powerful as every song I have heard ushered into the elite music galaxy of superstars. Yeah, Arturo, YOU GOT MY ATTENTION! If I could have been the fly on the wall when you crafted "Broad Street Jam," I would have signed away my soul without reservation, because my brotha your blast is earth shaking. Then there is "Mia Amor," a finga poppin' love song that is written in the language of "for sax funk lovers only," a road frequented by modern music enthusiasts, and, definitely a road worth venturing down, especially if only to meet "SAX OF THE LION" at the other end. My recommendation is that everyone pay close attention to the sax in the lion's heart of this man!
