GHOST LIGHT
REVIEW BY LUKE FORDEATHDOOM PRODUCTIONS----FILTHY GORE
"Ghost Light"-----Last year I was privileged to write about "Killing Rage", the second album from one man outfit Filthy Gore. "Killing Rage" was a full on Thrash assault straight from the late eighties and early nineties, but in an attempt to never back track or cover old ground, Filthy Gore has come up with 2008's "Ghost Light", a remarkable tribute to all things truly 80's classic rock."Ghost Light" is a real step up for Filthy Gore, in talent, and progression. It's easy enough to churn out the same style album after album but here the complete U-Turn in sounds is astonishing, and if anything more suited to the man's abilities. That's taking nothing away from previous efforts I should mention but when your sat at home and "Million Faces" is washing over you, played with ease and style, you'll know what I mean. What this album represents is a glance back in time, to when music flowed easily and the tunes were catchy yet heart felt. What this album could do, is fit in easily way back when, but today will act as a reminder to countless rockers of the nostalgia they feel for the 80's.What I love about this album is the cross over between the songs, from quick and catchy tunes to mournful ballads just packed with soul and emotion (Listen to Darkness) and it's that variance that endears me instantly. His voice is suited to this style more than it is the Trash of old, and he has come very quickly into his element with "Ghost Light". Combined with a slight Gothic quality here and there, (Take The World) this album produces a high level of performance and quality, and another step on the ladder to success for Filthy Gore7/10http://www.myspace.com/filthygore
