EIKOSTATE

Nobody would think that a band such as Eikostate could originate from a place like Barcelona, Spain. A mix of rock and traditional Japanese music and catchy melodies is not something you can find today, as radio stations swamp your ears with Emo wave.
- “We could take the same train as other bands and start playing Emo or Screamo”- state the members of the band- “but we’d be following the same path that other bands have taken and squeezed.”
Something they already did in the past, the ex-formers of the acclaimed Spanish nu-metal band, After Feed-back, were not going to repeat.
With a 10 year hardened past on their shoulders, an EP, and two albums, After Feed-back set foot on many Spanish, French and German stages…..-“ that was a great fucking show!”- says Henk Hakker, Roadrunner Germany director, when the record label invited the band.
…….appeared in prestigious magazines as Metal Hammer, voted best album of the year 2002 by Spanish National Radio, and second best album of the year 2003 by Rocksound magazine.
What looked like a simple and easy return by the ex-members of AF-B, became a rough struggle to find something different and original.
-“we decided to lock ourselves into our rehearsal studio for the necessary time to get what we wanted to get, sacrificing our desire to play live”-
Two years of creative and personal effort, not being able to play live, spending their time on rehearsals, some band member changes, and the difficulty of finding a record label, ended up with what the band was looking for.
Many prestigious producers showed interest in Eikostate: Ben Grosse (Marilyn Manson, Sevendust, Disturbed), Ulrich Wild (Statix-X, Deftones), Sylvia Massy ( R.E.M, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Tool, Deftones) – “Eikostate is pretty cool, I've listened to some of their tracks and I am very excited about the possibility of working with them on new material.”-
Don Casale (Iron Butterfly, Vanilla Fudge, Rascals, Gold & Platinum records, Grammy Award nominated), was interested in the former band, so he showed interest in Eikostate as well. "I was drawn to the band on a number of levels: the music, the musicianship, the stage presence, and the sheer power of the songs! I just couldn't stay away. It was time to get involved."
Eikostate: “he really helped us a lot. He held out his hand giving us advice about our music and within a few months of being in touch, he decided to become our manager”-
Finally Eikostate got a contract with “Trident Style Records” in Japan, who believes in the band,. This made it easier to find a good publisher, a major, Universal Music Spain.
Now they are back, Roger (drums), Eloi (guitar & programming), Luis (Bass) and David (Vocals), ready to rock!.
Their debut album, “Tribute to perseverance”, due to be released in the spring of 2008, is riddled with catchy melodies and the strength of the best rock music, mixed with the infinity of traditional Japanese instruments, giving a very special and personal atmosphere to their songs.
“Rarely does life spare you a second chance, and it is true that not everybody deserves it. This is not the case for Eikostate..s members, in the past creators of one of the most brilliant pages in Spanish metal history under the name of After Feed-Back.
It’s been a long time, too much for their fans, who didn’t know anything about them. However, the wait has come to an end, and the main protagonists have renewed. This change has not just brought a brand new name and new band members, but a new and amazing collection of songs that will place them where they belong.
More melodic, as intense as those former times, Eikostate..s work shows a band with no limitations, joining with skilfulness in a way that no one has ever done before until now, the message of bands such as Dredg, Tool or Deftones, mixed with oriental folklore elements. A combination that apparently could turn weird, tastes delicious on their hands.” -Uri/Rock Zone magazine first pre-album review.
Eikostate..s first single and song for its first video-clip is called “A Life Less Painful”.
-“This song is dedicated to a very good friend of ours. It..s about the pain he was going through during a time of his life, which made him vanish off the face of the earth.
He enclosed himself into a dark hole which many people wouldn..t be able to get out of, and how by his efforts to renew, he deserves a better life, a life less painful.”-
Self produced by the band, mixed by Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, Mindset, HIM, Dog Fashion Disco, Sinch), and mastered by Alan Douches (Fleetwood Mac, Mastodon, Misfits, Everytime I Die, Hole, Sepultura), Eikostate, with its first album, “Tribute to perseverance”, is not going to leave anyone indifferent.
