Junior seeks to act as a conduit for critical dialogue as well as a social space connecting artists and audiences from a local to an international level. Junior is committed to being progressive and inspiring through its events from critical discussions to musical performances and parties. Not enough work gets seen. Our core purpose is to provide exhibiting opportunities and give exposure.
Junior has occupied the storefront at 2159 Central Avenue in the Brighton district of Cincinnati since the Summer of 2005. We have hosted art exhibitions, fashion shows, silent auctions, music concerts, sporting events, lock-ins, potlucks, breakfasts, talks, craft fairs, holiday fiestas, a horribly successful April Fool's comedy night, and a few out-of-control ragers. We have recently vacated the space so another group can try and get more out of the beautiful space in a still vibrant neighborhood, Brighton/West End, that we enjoyed for over 2 years. We hope our efforts towards the beautification of the hill north of the old Mockbee building (currently the Cloven Hoof Theatre) and the mural-in-progress on the 2500 block of Central Avenue will last as evidence of a gallery, a brief history of fun, or at least a few people who tried.
