About Me

Fun-- Fingers over book pages, catching the fleeting on film, sharing words that sigh and ache, existential ruminations, Carl Jung's shadow, Scott Fitzgerald's Zelda, Tolstoy's Anna, fresh mowed grass, Van Zandt's blues, my Mumu's cabin in the woods, Jesus and Dognid-- I love ML King, "I Have A Dream" and, Ghandi, "You must be the change you wish to see." And, Mother Teresa, ""I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper's wounds, I feel I am nursing the Lord himself."--Travel destinations to hot spots deep within the mind--rock. Traveling to the edge of self exploration, challenging banal cultural values, standing up to American greed and pride.

The Wounded Angel Hugo Simberg 1899

My Interests

..Lives well lived. Exploring the struggle of those who seek the transformation of self and society. Kafka, Tolstoy, Mother Teresa, Camus, Eliot, Hesse, Van Gogh, Nijinsky, Hardy, Shaw, Blake, Nietzsche, Dostoyevski.--Criminal Justice, the ghetto, crack cocaine. I am a psychotherapist in a prison with repeat male felons. The first generation of crack-ho mothers, boys who fell through the social welfare cracks. Had to survive on the streets at eight or nine, feed their kid brothers and sisters. Armed at 16. Penitentiary number at 19.--Downtown--my way cool 1860 home in Walnut Hills with views to die for.--My beloved wild, funny, deep, beautiful children.

Jessie Smith Wilcox is so good.

Somewhere over the rainbow Way up high, There's a land that I heard of Once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow Skies are blue, And the dreams that you dare to dream Really do come true.

Music:

If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain. ~Emily Dickinson
Albrecht Durer 1502

Movies:

Adore, and more, Leaving Las Vegas. The sound track is better than percocet. Monster with Charlize, she became, took the form of, the soul of, the wounded precious monster, right before our eyes. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Taxi Driver, Sling Blade because the crazies are more sane than the systemites-------------------------------------------------- ---Leaving Las Vegas the quintessential existential angst of all time.

Books:

Tim O'Briens, Lake of the Woods. Love, mirrors, magic, politics. The mystery told in circles, all in flashbacks, reminiscent of the film Memento. Jeremy LeRoy's Sarah, he writes like Flannery O'Conner tied to the bed and plied with angel dust. These are some of my favorite reads of all time.

I am a counselor in a prison. I work with male felons. This is my passion. Each man is unique and full of potential, with so much to give. Each has been through hell and back, children of God who have lost their way. Blessings to them all always and forever my love goes with you.Every year I am a clown at the annual prison picnic for the neighborhood children. I dance with the old ladies and make the children laugh. /br

THE WEDDING COUPLE by Donald HallFifteen years ago his heart infarcted and he stopped smoking. At eighty he trembled like a birch but remained vigorous and acute. When they married, fifty years ago, I was twelve. I observed the white lace veil, the mumbling preacher, and the flowers of parlor silence and ordinary absurdity; but I thought I stood outside the parlor. For two years she dwindled by small strokes into a mannequin--speechless almost, almost unmoving, eyes open and blinking, fitful in perception-- but a mannequin that suffered shame when it stained the bed sheet. Slowly, shaking with purpose, he carried her to the bathroom, undressed and washed her, dressed her in clean clothes, and carried her back to CNN and bed. "All you need is love," sang John and Paul: He touched her shoulder; her eyes caressed him like a bride's bold eyes.Copyright © 1996 by The Atlantic Monthly Company.
She danced in the dirty streets Satin shoes tied to her feet People round here said she was a sight Every night when the sun went down She'd curtsy and take a bow To the man in the moon and the dim street lights We held in high regard The rose in the mission yard Singin "Buffalo Gals wont you come out tonight"And her name was Ruby Brown And she came through shanty town Like a queen without a crown And her name was Ruby BrownLong about ten years ago She disappeared, why no one knows But some say she was runnin for her life 'Cause a mean looking man in a limousine Came down from New Orleans He said he came here looking for his wifeAnd her name was Ruby Brown And she came through shanty town Like a queen without a crown And her name was Ruby BrownSome say he beat her bad 'Til she just went plain mad But I say she went where he could never goAnd her name was Ruby Brown And she came through shanty town Like a queen without a crown And her name was Ruby BrownDeAnna Carter DeAnna Carter Lyrics country room Front Door
