Cryptovyrus is a Thrash metal band based in New Jersey. Our influences range from Pantera, Mastodon, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Into Eternity, Opeth, and Divinity Destroyed.
Cryptovyrus was formed in late 2005, by members Art Sikora and Andy Mako. The band was originally called Zoso. Brian Hakke, Steve Janusz and Eric Istvanditsch were later recruited to fill the voids to make the band a five piece, which included Brian, Steve and Art on guitar, Eric on bass and Andy on drums. After only a few practices Brian was kicked out of the band due to personal reasons. Then after only a few months Steve left the band on his own personal reasons. After both of them had left the band, the band was then called Dawn Patrol. Later an add was put out looking for a guitar player who was looking for a serious metal band. Steve Janson answered the call and was later added to the line up in March of 2006. The next part they needed was a lead singer, Steve and Andy knew a kid by the name of Gary Reid who had a previous successful local band Primitive Xecution. In May of 2006, Gary joined the band and the band was called Kaigan Hill.
Since then the band has gone through quite a few changes, between names for the band, songs being dropped, a demo being recorded, playing shows, and band members quitting.
September 16th 2006 marked the bands first show ever under the new name Cryptovyrus, it was held at the Log Cabin in Manchester NJ. The show itself was a huge success and held a record for a time with 180 people in the cabin, 160 that were there for Cryptovyrus's set. Some shows passed and the band wrote more music, but there was tension within the band and guitarist and long time friend Steve Janson quit the band for personal reasons the day before the Divinity Destroyed show at the Log Cabin. After Steve quit, the band quickly went into the studio to record a there first demo entitled, "The Vyrus of Life" and was an underground success around there shows and respective schools. Soon after the demo was released the band played a benefit show at the Waretown Fire hall, on behalf of the firehouse itself, with such good acts as Helvetika, A Tragedy Untold, Recoil, and many many more. The band then went into a short hiatus to find a new guitar player and for personal reasons; they found one of the original five Steve Janusz to fill the void at guitar. Steve will for now be listed as a session member, but he can become full-time bandmate at any time, and if that time comes Cryptovyrus will welcome him with open arms.
Cryptovyrus has played with such acts as Helvetika, Divinity Destroyed, The Accursed, None Shall Be Spared (Art's personal favorite), and Recoil.
Cryptovyrus is now ready and willing to play any shows that are to be thrown at them!

Cryptovyrus is gearing up for their 6 show spree beginning in late June. Never to be without surprises, we will be featuring some new things as well as some old. A brand new unrecorded song, and one no one has heard since around the first phase of Cryptovyrus. What does this mean? Get your ass out to our shows, and prepare to have your face ripped off! And, bring cookies! Thrash is down, but far from out! Witness the return of guitar solos, songs that don't suck, and music that's heavy, fast, beautiful, and fun! Get your ass out there, and we promise you will be forever changed!
