Known for his cutting edge track selection and ability to get any dancefloor moving, Phil Martinez aka Phil Good has established himself as a crowd favorite. Head of the internationally renowned promotion company Eccentric Beats, Phil has opened for and played alongside the likes of John Digweed, Lee Burridge, Oliver Lieb, James Holden, Jonathan Lisle, Nic Fanciulli, Kaskade, Mark Farina and Mazi. His nights have drawn media attention from local and International outlets including City Pages, 365 Mag in The Netherlands and Resident Advisor in Australia.
During the fall of 2004 to the spring of 2005 he held a monthly residency at Tabu Nightclub as part of the Plush nights hosted by promotion giant - Sound In Motion. It was here people started to discover this young promising DJ.
In 2006, Phil held one of the most successful monthly residencies at Fahrenheit nightclub with Phil Good Fridays. It was on these nights where he was known for playing extended sets lasting up to four hours. That July he was invited to play for the dance stage alongside Derrick Carter and Donald Glaude for Heat. Other guests included Kanye West and Tek Nine.
In 2007 Phil Good was asked by Envy nightclub to be the featured grand opening DJ for the Dance Room. He continued his Phil Good Fridays night on until May when he took the summer off. Phil has since returned to Envy playing the second Saturday of each month alongside Jay Strangelove. He is also managing the InFusion club night at the Shinto Lounge of Temple each Saturday. Such celebrities as Prince and David Beckham have recently stopped down to Temple.Phil has also played at venues throughout the Midwest including Inferno Nightclub in Madison, The Stones Throw in Eau Claire and over a dozen locations throughout the Twin Cities including Foundation, The Lounge, and Myth Nightclub.
His parties have become some of the most popular in town featuring such International acts as Damian Lazarus, Radioslave, Bill Patrick, Lostep (Luke Chable & Phil K), Son Of The Electric Ghost, DJ Three, and James Zabiela. Focusing on minimal, breakbeats, progressive, and tech-house, Eccentric Beats is a provider of fresh, upfront talent that has yet to play in Minneapolis.
Besides DJ’ing Phil is busy managing Lobotomy Records, a digital record label featuring artists such as Phil K and Habersham. Having been asked to help take over this label by friend Habersham, Phil has helped make Lobotomy Records one of the most in demand labels for progressive and breakbeat DJ’s. The labels tracks have been signed to such compilations as Renaissance Presents Therapy Sessions and the Y4K CD Series.
When Phil finds some spare time in his busy schedule he spends it writing reviews and feature articles for a variety of publications including Illypses, 365 Mag, Resident Advisor, ProgressiveHouse.Com and a variety of other sites. He is currently working on a new mix CD with studio partner, Shawn Luke, that will be available in early 2007.
