At the age of sixteen, a band at my school needed a bassplayer, so I decided to join in. After two years of rarely touching my bass, and when i did it was just fooling around, i got more serieus with making music. A short time thereafter i met my teacher Johnny Tevreden. He showed me a whole new musical world. That was a place where bassplayers where something else then just plucking root and fifth. Bands like Weather Report or Return to Forever. I really thought those guys were outta-sight. They could even play solo's ON A BASS!!!
So nowadays, inspired by people like Pastorius, Wooten but also Coltrane or Ravi Shankar, i continue my study of music in Amsterdam on ROC and hopefully will play the same beautifull music those cats did...
Furthermore I am inspired by the idea that people connect through music. It is my goal that, by showing the richness in music that anyone on this planet has to offer, no matter what that music is called or where that person comes from, we as people have a very beautiful thing in coming: Music. This is one of the billion things we as humans have in common (Next to, of course, the fact that we're all people) and since it is music that touches me deeply, I choose music as a way to bring people together and bring happiness in people's lives.
