Albert Lin started his formal musical training on the piano at the age of 3. At the age of 16, he was awarded the 3rd prize at the National Music Competition in Singapore, and became one of the youngest students ever at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. At Peabody, he majored in Piano Performance with Marian Hahn, and also minored in Orchestral Conducting with Maestro Frederyk Prausnitz, who was one of only 2 awardees of the coveted Mahler Medal. He was actively involved as a collaborative pianist, having served as a school accompanist and performing with all the school ensembles including the Peabody Symphony Orhcestra, Peabody Wind Ensemble, and Peabody Percussion Ensemble. He was later to study with esteemed pedagogue Arthur Greene at the University of Michigan. Under Greene, Albert Lin flourished with a slew of accolades including the Gold Medal at the Rochdale Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Finalist at the California International Young Artist Competition, and several special mentions in local competitions. His performance of Rachmaninoff's 2nd and 3rd Piano Concertii in a single night with the Rochdale Youth Orchestra was hailed by the Rochdale Daily as "an astonishing feat of herculean stamina, coupled with the sensitivity of a consumate poet."
Back in Singapore, Lin has been hailed as "the darling of Singaporean composers" for his tireless work in promoting and performing new and unperformed works of composers from his native country. He is highly sought-after as a recitalist and accompanist, and frequently conducts workshops and masterclasses for aspiring students. He was recently invited to perform alongside Cyprien Katsaris, The Nettle and Markham Duo, Valentina Lisitsa, and Minoru Nojima at the 2007 Singapore International Piano Festival.
