I just uploaded two new songs of mine. Both are up-tempo songs to contrast the mellow ones I have up. A lot of people have been asking me to put up the rock songs so here they are... Check 'em out and enjoy!
Also - If anyone has AIM and wants to chat feel free to IM me if you see me around. My screen name is: Powerpop451
ABOUT ME:
I am currently in a indie rock band known as, We Know, Plato! . I co-founded the band with Benvolio Willson about a year after moving back to Richmond from Los Angeles. Benvolio and myself write, arrange and produce the music, so click on the band name or the banner above to stop by and check us out. Let us know what you think when you do.
I am originally from Richmond, Virginia. I moved to Los Angeles with a band called, The Waking Hours . I was bass player and then keyboardist for them. While in that band I have had the privilege of sharing the stage on many occassions with these great California bands: Maroon5 (Kara's Flowers), Rooney, Space Twins (featuring Brian Bell of Weezer), Big City Rock, Smile, Say Anything, Dios, and many others. Everyone should check out all these bands if you get the chance.
I have since gone on to form my own band, Edison Gower .
But more about me... I write way too many songs, so many that I have a lot just lying around unfinished. However, I try to let the good ones shine through and record those. All my recordings are home recordings which I feel gives the songs character and feeling. Guided By Voices did it why can't I!
I am influenced by a lot of things. I can't just say there is one band or artist that truly inspires me. I just write a song and arrange it however I feel it should be arranged. I will say that watching music films and documenatries are probably the most inspiring for me. For isntance Pink Floyd live at Pompeii never fails as a source of inspiration.
So with that said I will not sit here and try to make a long list of bands or artists that influence and inspire me, nor will I bore you with all those details. As for what my music sounds like. I have never been good at this but a MySpace.com friend of mine gave probably the best and most accurate description I have heard yet. So I will quote her:
"...sort of a mix between The Beatles, Coldplay, and Flaming Lips....and ???? There is some other element in there, but I can't figure it out."
