About Scarlett:

Miss Candler will be making her debut at the Atlanta Cotillion Ball VII.  She is the oldest daughter of Mr. Gerald Lucifer O’Hara and Mrs. Ellen Rosalia O’Hara (nee de l’Amour) of Tifton, Georgia and is a direct descendant of Miss Cecile Beauregard de l”Amour.
Raised on a beautiful southern plantation, she spent the early years chasing after Ashley Wilkes until war ravaged her homeland. It was then that Scarlett vowed “as God as my witness, I shall help Atlantans suffering with, affected by or at risk-for HIV infection.” Thus, began her entrance into the Atlanta Cotillion.
Scarlett is a graduate of the “Vida Boheme & Noxema Jackson Charm School for Boys who want to be Girls.” Prior to her formal education, Scarlett earned several titles including “American Idol 1867.”

About the Atlanta Cotillion:

In 1997 J. D. Kellum and Jeff Paramore created the first Atlanta Cotillion Ball to provide a creative and unique opportunity to raise awareness as well as funds for the HIV/AIDS community.
In 2002 a committed group of volunteers led by John McGuirk reorganized the Atlanta Cotillion to maximize the fundraising potential of this unique event. In 2004 the leadership responsibilities were passed to Edward Holifield, Harrison Perry and Greg Whitmire. 2006 and 2007 welcomed growth and fundraising success from Co-Chairs Edward Holifield and Greg Whitmire. This amazing success will continue in 2008 with Edward Holifield as Chair and Vice Chairs Bryon Brown and Darrell Burke. Their shared vision will enhance and grow the event while remaining true to its founding traditions.
Former Queens include Aric Castleberry 2002, Harrison Perry 2003, Steve Dondero 2004; Jody Woodruff 2005; Juan Pablo Zuluaga 2006. In 2007 having raised over $29,000 Rodney Hinote was crowned Queen of the Atlanta Cotillion Ball VI.
Annually, a group of gentlemen from the Atlanta gay community participate as “debutantes” in a unique fundraising concept to benefit HIV/AIDS charities. Each participant is given a financial goal; how they reach and, almost always, exceed that goal depends on their creativity, resources and passion for helping those affected by HIV/AIDS. Oh yes and there is the crown to think of. Since 2002 the Atlanta Cotillion has not only donated over $450,000, but has also become one of the single largest donors of unrestricted funds to AID Atlanta, the largest AIDS service organization in the southeast.
After months of creative individual fundraising efforts, the Atlanta Cotillion social season culminates in the lively and entertaining Atlanta Cotillion Ball. In keeping to tradition the escorted debutantes are presented on stage to celebrate their fundraising successes. As the highlight of the evening, the debutante who has raised the most funds is crowned Queen of the Atlanta Cotillion Ball. Now in its seventh year in this format, the Atlanta Cotillion Ball is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in Atlanta and has achieved national awareness.
