We are no longer playing shows.

About Me

..We're going to be working on a couple (three) new songs and revamping some old ones... and some really fucking old ones. Don't worry though... the pound for pound most pissed off band in the land will be laying it down live before spring is over. Here is a rundown of the current lineup...Sam McGibbon - Sam's musical history consists of being a first generation Painstake member ( he recorded both "Consecrate" and "Don't Condemn This Dying" ), being part of the punk outfit Four, playing and destroying shit as bassist for The Pariah Sect, and as always cultivating and growing his Five Points Plan hiphop project (which if you haven't checked out is the f'ing bomb). He is currently leading the pack of wolves known as Painstake in new and heavier creative directions with his guitar steadily by his side.Carl Kumpe - Little is known about the enigma that is Carl. We can only tell you so much until we breach national security protocols. Just kidding, but seriously now... Carl joined Painstake right ofter "Consecrate" broke the seal and went on to record drums on "Don't Condemn This Dying." Carl is not only the cro-magnon man behind the drumset, he is also the walking talking metal and hardcore "human encyclopedia." Couple that with the fact that Carl was once VP of Relapse Records (yeah, fucking relapse), and we have a metal history book that would make Alex Tribek piss his pants in terror.Thom Gann - Considered a founding member of Painstake by most, Thom is the glue that holds the mix together. This behemoth plays a fretless bass that is so heavy you can feel it shake your bowels. Thom's history is a mystery but some say that he used to be in a band from Indiana called Warcry and owns a wolf. Brutal is the only word suitable to describe his stage presence and the way he brings the heavy. Having written and recorded all bass tracks on all Painstake albums, Thom is also moving into the backup vocal seat for added... well... brutalisticness.Chris Andon - Some sources claim that this is the original fan of Painstake. But after grueling tryouts and many sleepless nights writing the most pissed off and anti-establishment lyrics, Painstake has unleashed the animal. "Pissed off rage to the point of being physically abusive to himself during shows" would be an appropriate description of this man's presence. Previous projects include Pointblank(rip), Ethic (rip) and Masakado (rip... for now). A little known fact is that he was on a reality TV show... if you can guess which one, he'll probably beat you with your own arm and devour your pets.Pat Crypticus - An honorary member of Painstake, Patrick is producing and mixing our newest efforts. Check out one man project, Crypticus (www.myspace.com/crypticus), or go to a back issue of Decibel magazine to read more about this questionable character. With Pat at the helm, Painstake is poised to deliver their brand of true brutality.Editors' Note:: - Painstake is physically the biggest and most pissed off band you will ever see.

So Quick to Deny.

What is about kids who used to like hardcore. Why is "hardcore" a bad word all of a sudden. And why do so many of our peers deny the fact that their roots lie in the  discovery and support of tha...

OLD SONGS TO BE PLAYED AGAIN...

That's right.  We're digging up some of our decayed old material.  We thought it might be fun for everyone involved to dust off a couple from Consecrate and Don't Condemn ...

To All the "Scene-sters"... you know who you are.

I'm so sick of closed minds. I'm so sick of cliques and pretension. It is rampant. This scene is so judgemental, so quick to deny, so jealous, so envious, so unconfident. So caught up in what your frie...

I get asked too often what Painstake sounds like now... and let me tell you... If you LOVED "Consecrate(1995)"... you'll hate us now. No you won't. But we do sport a new vocalist, me (chris), and that...

Whats up with the Fillmore???

All I can say is the sound sucked at the Slayer show. It's not that it's bad enough that after ticket taxes the tickets were 45 bucks, and there were only three bands, Cephalic Unearth and Slayer, but...
