Valentina Preite

Biography
Valentina Preite was born in Basel (Switzerland) on May 5th, 1985. Both parents are Italian immigrants, one from Puglia, the other one from Calabria. Valentina spent her childhood in Birsfelden (Basel Land), then moved to Muttens with her parents, where she attended the gymnasium.
At the tender age of eight, Valentina started taking dancing-lessons and was a dancer for almost 6 years. Her father was the one who introduced her to the love of her life; Music. He has his own band since over thirty years now and has always been very committed. With his enthusiasm he infected Valentina and started training her as a singer.
At the age of 10, she started participating on different playback-shows and then entered the Swiss-Championship. She even made it to the semi-finals for the legendary RTL-Endemol program "The Mini-Playbackshow" in Köln (Germany), where Children would impersonate their Music-Idols. In 1998 she performed at her first real singing-competition, where she presented a Song by Italian singer Annalisa Minetti "Senza te o con te". After this experience she participated in many singing-contests.
In 2003 she won the 4th Karaoke-Championship in Switzerland. The following year she entered the second season of Musicstar (Swiss version of American Idol) where she ended up among the ten finalists. After the show she received many offers from producers, but she decided to first finish her education.
In 2005 she attended the University of Zürich (Switzerland), where she studied journalistic studies, Italian language and literature. At the moment she is studying Italian language and literature at the University of Bologna (Italy).
Even if she will be in Italy for the next 12 months, she has now started preparing a music-project, scheduled for a winter 2008 release. The project is very daring and will surprise everyone. Valentina is still looking for the man of her dreams. Will she find him in Bologna, back at home in Basel or even here on MySpace? ;o) - Stay tuned.
