About Me

First there was Dead Shaman. Formed in Anchorage, Alaska in Winter 1996, Dead Shaman only comprised of vocalist Sommer Mousel accompanied by Andy Shaman who was composing, arranging & performing everything on a Roland XP-80. It was completely raw tribal gothic industrial music that notoriously played second fiddle to the onstage antics of both performers. Dead Shaman relocated to Ashland, Oregon in Spring '98 and performed regularly at local hotspot Daddy-O's Rocket Lounge where they were taken under the wings of owners Jon & Blaise Bach. Not even old enough to be in bar they had to hide out in the kitchen before & after performances. The need for a more vibrant nightlife brought them to the obvious choice of moving to Portland. From '99 to '04 Dead Shaman was an integral part of the budding electronic music scene that was Portland Nightlife in those days. Ties became broken with vocalist Sommer Mousel and meanwhile Andy had joined forces with FreQ Tranzmission and Electrosect to pilot a weekly slot called ElectroLush at the now infamous Cobalt Lounge, in its heyday. Dead Shaman regularly performed at Cobalt during Exotica-Go-Go & Sunday School. Dead Shaman was also a regular act at the Ohm & under the watchful eye of club owner Dan Reed he had the honor of opening for acts such as Banco de Gaia, Uberzone, DJ Hyper, DJ Keoki, Mark Farina, Ming & FS, Electric Skychurch, AK1200, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Baby Anne, Dieselboy, DJ Rap, DJ Spooky, LTJ Bukem, Q-Burns Abstract Message & the list goes on! During this time was the metamorphosis from Dead Shaman to Solo Artist "Ijji". Dan Reed's pet project "Odyssey" formed with Andy Shaman's "Ijji" to become a weekly staple at Ohm called "Odyssey & Ijji". This was a weekly event for about a year.
