Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, DJ BLACK ROB didnt always listen to music until the age of 14. At the age of 14, DJ BLACK ROB started working for a skating rink in San Mateo called The Rolladium Skating Rink. While working at the skating rink, he always scene the dj get all the attention, so within 3 months he saved up some money and started djing for the skating rink.
He was djing for the rink for about a year when he met a person named STRAWBERRY who worked on the 1 radio station in the bay area WILD 94.9. Strawberry introduced DJ BLACK ROB too JAZZY JIM who was the APD at the time of WILD 94.9. After that introduction DJ BLACK ROB became a WILDSTYLE DJ at the age of 15 until he was 20.
During those 5 years of djing at the radio station, DJ BLACK ROB has met numerous of artist from LISA LISA to 50 cent. He has also opened for artist on a local level and national level. From artist such as San Quinn (One of the Bay Areas Legends) to the R. Kelly ( One of the WORLDS GREATEST R&B SINGERS/PRODUCER).
At the age of 20, he noticed that he was stuck in the same position at the radio station since he started, so he decided to leave WILD 94.9 to pursue his career as a DJ in the Bay Area and worldwide. At the age of 21, a new hip hop radio station was started in the Bay Area (POWER 92.7) where he was hired as a promotions assistant and a mixer.
While working at power 92.7, DJ BLACK ROB met even more key people in the music industry, from DJ E-Rock (SIRIUS RADIO) to Kev Black and Marlon Singleton (Interscope Records). He also met DJ Maniakal and Danny Dee where they began a DJ COALITION called DYNASTY FAM, which was the fastest growing dj crew in northern California. DYNASTY FAM DJs consisted of radio, club, and street djs through out the bay area and nationwide.
After Power 92.7, DJ BLACK ROB met a man by the name of SUGA SHANE who worked at another radio station in Modesto/Stockton California (97.7 & 98.3 KWIN). After meeting with Suga Shane, DJ BLACK ROB started mixing for KWIN on Dynasty Fam Turftape Radio at the age of 23.
At 23 years old, DJ BLACK ROB is currently djing the 1 RATED AFTERNOON MIX "THE 5:20 GRID LOCK MIX" on 97.7 & 98.3 KWIN. Dj Black Rob is looking for an outlet to expand his musical talent by doing mixtapes, djing is different regions of the country, and producing his own night life events.
