Vervalen, I am also known as "The Bull" and my Indian name is Blan Envash Itotivew which in translation means "Chief White Buffalo Charging Man " I was given this name by the Grandfathers along with the four colors of my ceremonial robe. I have four years in with the BIA/Tribal Police, two years with the Rolette County Sheriff's Office, My previous work experience includes, but not limited to; Security Director, Supervisor and officer in some of the Native American Casinos,juvenile detention/probation officer for the Three Affiliated Tribes,owned and operated Vervalen Security & Protection, and ran for Sheriff in Rolette County in 2002 and 2006, I am currently on a long list for the office of Tribal Councilman for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. I have a vision of a promise of a better future for my people if elected into office, I plan on running for President of the National Congress of American Indians, I had a great mentor, former NCAI President and Three Affiliated Tribal Chairman Tex G. Hall, whom showed me that the battle is worth the fight. I am also involved with the North Dakota Leonard Peltier Support Group and I believe in his freedom and innocence.I work and travel basically 90% of my life, I am a traditionalist and believe in the ways of our ancestors, I practice these ways through spirituality and ceremony.Other than that I am a simple man, I am a hard worker who is not afraid of labor, I grew up on a farm and worked a ranch. I am not Much for parties, I gave up the party scene long ago.I play guitar, bass guitar,and drums, i used to play in a few bands, we started in junior high, I continued the band thing until after college, played in a few bars, then I became a law enforcement officer, soooo I gave up the band scene. I am into politics, I ran for Rolette County Sheriff in 2002 and received only 96 votes, In 2006, I received 428 votes and came in forth out of nine candidates,maybe I will win in 2010, my goal is to be the youngest sheriff in Rolette County, I have until I am 40 to do so.
