Aveladeen

Né en automne 2005 d’un intérêt commun pour la musique celtique , ce trio explore les diverses facettes et origines de ce courant musical en puisant au vaste répertoire des folklores d’Irlande, d’Écosse , de Bretagne , d’Espagne et du Québec. Aveladeen , nom imaginaire qui signifie "cité des vents" , explore les différentes fascètes des musiques celtiques:musiques de danses, complaintes, ballades, marches et les réarrange en utilisants plusieurs instruments, les agencant de façon originale, tout en respectant le genre. L' improvisation a aussi sa place en ouvrant des moments plus atmosphérique ou même hypnotique....on peut même déceler un peu des influences du rock ou folk progressif. Avec l' utilisation d' instruments comme le duduk ou le kaval, le udu et le darbuka, Aveladeen se permet des fusions avec d' autres cultures:musique du maghreb, juive, des Balkans, latine. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- MICHEL DUBEAUEn plus de jouer le shakuhachi et différents instruments d’origine ethnique, Michel Dubeau est saxophoniste, flûtiste et clarinettiste actif dans tous les genres musicaux. On a pu l’entendre sur la musique de Un homme et son péché de Charles Binamé. Il a collaboré aux musiques des séries télévisées OMERTA , TAG et BUNKER LE CIRQUE . En février 2004 M.Dubeau , spécialiste des flûtes du monde, s’est joint à l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal lors d’un concert dirigé par Howard Shore, compositeur de la musique du film LE SEIGNEUR DES ANNEAUX. Michel Dubeau fut également leader du groupe GAKKI avec lequel il a produit deux disques et son ensemble HAÏKU a lancé un deuxième disque en 2005. En déc.2005 il fonde le trio de musique celtique AVELADEEN; ce trio lance un premier CD en 2006 . Il est membre du QUATUOR À VENT SCÈNE et il a participé à l’enregistrement de deux albums depuis le début de cet ensemble fondé en 1999 par Raoul Cyr. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- BENOIT CHAPUTDiplômé en 1989 en guitare classique à Vincent d’Indy, Benoît Chaput enseigne la guitare en formation privée et en milieu scolaire depuis une quinzaine d’années. En tant que musicien, il a collaboré à différents projets tels que création, enregistrement et spectacles avec plusieurs artistes de la région des Laurentides.Son cheminement musical est synonyme de versatilité. Allant de la chanson française au rock progressif, s’ajoute la découverte du répertoire celtique en compagnie de Michel Dubeau et Raoul Cyr. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- RAOUL CYRDiplômé en trombone du conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal, RAOUL CYR --uvre comme musicien professionnel depuis 1975. Il joue et enseigne la guitare depuis plus de trois décennies. En 2000 il ajoute le bugle à sa panoplie qui inclut également les percussions. Il a travaillé avec des ensembles de musique de chambre, des formations jazz et des groupes brésiliens avec lesquels il a donné près de 1000 spectacles dont 8 participations au Festival international de jazz de Montréal. Sa musique l’a conduit au Maroc , aux Bahamas, aux Festivals de folklore de Toronto et Winnipeg ainsi qu’un peu partout au Québec. De 2001 à 2004 il présente une série de concerts-conférences s’intitulant « L’histoire du jazz et les tendances du jazz actuel .»En 1999, il fonde le Quatuor À Vent Scène avec lequel il enregistre en 2002 le disque « NOEL AUTOUR DU MONDE » et en 2004 , un 2ième album intitulé « IMPRESSIONS DIAPHANES » diffusé à plusieurs reprises à la chaîne culturelle ESPACE MUSIQUE. Il fait également partie du trio celtique AVELADEEN avec Michel Dubeau. Le trio lance en 2006 un premier CD intitulé : « LA CITÉ DES VENTS.------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------- Born of a common interest for Celtic music, this trio explores the different aspects and origins of this musical movement by drawing from the vast repertoire and folklore of Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Spain and Quebec. Not to mention a few originals combining numerous influences.Stemming from the word Avel which means ’’gust of wind’’ in Breton Gaelic, Aveladeen is a neologism reminiscent of ’’the mythic City of Winds.’’ Thanks to the winds, melodies can express a wide range of emotions, all of which takes form with the help of string instruments : classical and acoustic guitar, mandolin, dobro and banjo which color and magnify the melody. Percussion adds spice to the music : bodhran, tambourine and ganza carry us to lands outside the Celtic world.Aveladeen is also a gust of wind inasmuch as its form and genre leave room for improvisation in a blend of jazz, Arabic, Latin, Jewish and Eastern European influence. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------• MICHEL DUBEAU: flute, Irish whistle, smallpipes, Uillean pipes, Highland hornpipe, low whistle.On top of playing the shakuhachi flute and many ethnic instruments of origin such as the Indian flutes, native American Idian, Irish, Indian, Chinese and Morrocan oboes, Michel Dubeau is an accomplished player on saxophone, flute and clarinet in a number of musical styles.One can appreciate the excellence of his playing in many cinematographic productions: 'Rafales' (music by Oswaldo Montes) , 'Automne sauvage' by Gabriel Pelletier , 'Cinq No de Mishima' by Martine Baulne, 'Sadhana' by Marcel Poulin and more recently 'Un homme et son péché' by Charles Binamé. We have heard him in popular TV series such as 'OMERTA' , 'TAG' et 'BUNKER LE CIRQUE'. In February 2004 Michel Dubeau, as a world flute specialist, joined the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra to perform lead parts of a concert directed by Howard Shore, composer of the music of the movie 'LORD OF THE RINGS'.Michel Dubeau was leader of the group GAKKI as well, who gave us two albums. His group HAIKU just came out with a second record, called 'The KEROUAC Project'. Michel is also co-founder of two groups with Raoul Cyr: AVELADEEN and the 'QUATUOR À VENT SCÈNE'. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------• RAOUL CYR: guitar , flugelhorn and percussions.Holder of a diploma from the Quebec Conservatoire in Montreal, RAOUL CYR has been working as a professional musician since 1975. Thanks to his experience as orchestra coach with the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra, he has successively played 1st and 2nd trombone with the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra from 1980 to 1990.He plays and teaches guitar for more than three decades and in 2000 he adds the flugelhorn to his display of instruments.Parallel to these activities, he has worked with chamber music ensembles, jazz and Brazilian groups with which he performed nearly 1,000 shows, including 8 appearances at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. His music took him to Morocco, the Bahamas, the Toronto and Winnipeg Folk Festivals as well as nearly everywhere in Quebec. In recent years, he has given a series of concerts/conferences known as ’’The History of Jazz and the Current Tendencies of Modern Jazz’’.In 1999, he founded the Quatuor À Vent Scène and they recorded « NOEL AUTOUR DU MONDE » in 2002 and a 2nd album, « IMPRESSIONS DIAPHANES », in 2004. He is also a member of Michel Dubeau’s Celtic Trio: AVELADEEN. In addition to working on these projects, Raoul Cyr leads stage-band ensembles at the Rivière du Nord School Board in Quebec. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------- • BENOIT CHAPUT: guitars , mandolin, bouzouki and banjo.Holder of a diploma from Vincent d’Indy (1989) where he studied classical guitar, Benoît Chaput has been teaching guitar both in private and at school for some fifteen years. As a musician, he has worked with many artists from the Laurentian area on different creation, recording and show projects.His musical evolution is synonymous with versatility, ranging from French song to progressive rock to the Celtic repertoire, which he explores with Michel Dubeau and Raoul Cyr.
