Debatably one of the best kept secrets in the mid-west world of Hip-Hop, Black Fonz, is ready to set the world ablaze!!! Born and raised in the heart of Detroit, Fonz prides his music on soul, anecdotes and recollection. Combine lyrics with swagger, attitude, and delivery, u have only a few aspects of this monster M.C. The middle child of a huge family, Fonz found the need to standout, or to be overlooked, that larger than life persona is what makes him a threat to anyone who doesn’t believe in his abilities. “I Just want to make good music†That’s all Fonz wants to do, and good music is what he makes. A mist all the fads, gimmicks, and fallacies apparent today in the world of hip-hop, Fonz is giving his view of the world in all honest accounts possible. Although Fonz is from the hood, he also is extremely intelligent, and wise. An alumnus of Virginia State University, Fonz gives credit to his versatility, as well as his killer instinct. “I saw people from Va., D.C., New York, North Carolina, and dozens of other places doin’ their thing, and I just had to be the best at it, so I took my Detroit swag, and put all the things I admired from the other places together, and came out a winner.†Fonz says. After fulfilling a promise to his late grandmother and acquiring a degree in Political Science, Fonz returned to Detroit with one thing on his mind… MUSIC, with nothing but… “Me and D.P. got home from school in Aug. of ’01, a month later… really 2 weeks later the Twin Towers Dropped, it wasn’t no jobs for us, so that just proved that we had to do it on our own…†Fonz started recording, Him, D.P., and D.P’s childhood friend T-funk began to pay for studio time and record until thing slowed up. Fonz then got involved with the brother of NFL Athlete Dwight Smith, and a label named OOPS Entertainment. Fonz recorded a host of songs, appeared on over 30 of the hottest acts in the cities albums, and his name began to really “ring bellsâ€, Black Fonz was the guy, the “Next One.â€Things didn’t quite workout as planned, although expected to be the next artist to release and album Oops Ent. Felt that Fonz should be in a group, to built a larger fan base, Fonz joined a group that consisted of two other rappers, named Triple Team. After that venture fell apart, Fonz waited his turn and was overlooked again, He decided to move on, and form his own label. “After Triple Team, I was next up with an album to be released, so 2 months later, they ( Oops Ent.) tell me u bout to drop, I wasn’t ready to drop yet, we just dropped Triple Team, I was waiting for that to catch on a little, so I told them I wanted to wait until the 1st quarter, I mean really what new artist drops albums in the 4th quarter, especially in Detroit, one of the hardest markets to break a record.†After all the ins and outs, and turmoil, Fonz eventually moved on from Oops, and started his own label, Thumbz up Ent!!!Question… Are you ready for the next great one in Hip Hop?
