Hello. My name is Corey D Cleven, and I am a writer. My first published book is titled "A Place Just North of Tibet", and I have been writing fiction for years. This is my personal profile solely for my work. Not only will I be announcing any progress on my writing, but I will be showing some of my work every now and then.
Now, on to the work.
"A Place Just North of Tibet"
As I've said before, I am the publisher (so far) of one title (I have plenty more waiting to be released on the proper format). "A Place...", to begin with, is a first person narrative working off of a stream-of-consciousness state of mind; the book holds special interest to me as a person, being that I am myself the main character. It is a book cataloguing various events and activities of a young writer entering 'The Big City'. It is hard to say, exactly what time this story takes place, somewhere from 1950's to the 2050's, with aspects of Beatnik culture and speculative fiction entwined.
My writing as a whole has taken in many different influences from many medias. I am a fan of the Beat Generation, in general, but namely the work of William S. Burroughs ("A Place..." is a direct influence of and credit to the Beat Generation in numerous ways). Also, musically, I look to many great artists, such as David Bowie and Gary Numan. Aside from writing, I am a painter, and I think Andy Warhol's style, not only in the aspect of art, has left among one of the greatest impressions on me. Also to note here, I enjoy avante-garde filming, and David Lynch is in my opinion one of the best (and under-rated) modern directors.

Here is an excerpt from "A Place..." (This is under copyright, and should not be tampered with):
"Mr. Gogo, a famed cryptozoologist, came to the City searching for the great human fly to study and deny him his freedom, for Mr. Phallus, Gogo believes, is not a cryptid but rather some byproduct of the Meat Spectacle. To Mr. Gogo the Phallus creature is nothing more or less than a novelty, but a prized novelty for a respectable collection of such biological trinkets.
(Note: A cryptid is a creature under interest of cryptozoology, which in short is a study of strange or hidden animals. Cryptozoology is, for its ideals that often delve into paranormal and the other rather fantastic imagination, ridiculed and rarely treated as a legitimate science, despite its contributions to the world. Perhaps the greatest cryptid would be that of the Bela Lugosi. Appearing only briefly on film, and discretely under other names on stage somewhere in Hungary, he has thrilled the media from the 1930's until his supposed death in the 50's. His recorded appearances--have been over one hundred, as occasions on film--have been of various forms: a vampire, a voodoo witch doctor, a mad scientist, a creepy butler, etc. His power was limitless. Although the forces of morphine addiction and has-been-ism had taken their toll on the creature Lugosi, he still remains a formidable entity of horror. Bela Lugosi memorabilia holds a special place in Gogo's collection)."
