The Horrid Lorries were characters from a children's tv show that Brian Hancheck used to name his band. Consisting only of himself, Brian aims to create songs that mirror a love for British music circa 1988-1994, particularly the Shoegazer era.
In 2006, Brian recorded a demo, Marina Del Rey, that was a clear reflection of the Brit pop sound he was into at the time. It was during this time that The Horrid Lorries played several local shows, including an important gig at The House of Blues where the remaining copies of the Marina Del Rey ep was sold out. Fans expecting more of the same thing for the Horrid Lorries next release were to be surprised when they heard the new direction Brian was going for. 2007's Hearts in Flight is a remarkable showcase of Brian's flair for sonic guitar textures over soft, dreamy vocals and songs about lost love and sleeping pills.
Brian plays drums in Hazelton which is a completely different band focusing more on spiritual themes from a Christian perspective. Check out Hazelton' s music too and keep a look out for new demos from the Horrid Lorries.
