Formed in 2001, Hazelton started as a hobby for writing songs. Jeremy Stone and Oscar Haselden began trading ideas and eventually grew to include Jeremy's brother Joe and Brian Hancheck. Fronted by the amazing voice and driving acoustic guitar of Oscar Haselden, the band strives to go beyond the confines of modern music by incorporating the influences of each member into an eclectic whole.
Hazelton recorded their debut album, Wasting Away To Something Beautiful, with producer Scott Watkins. Released in the Summer of 2002, the album showcased the bulk of the bands early material, including Finally, One, and Billy's Talent.
Soon after the recording of the album, Joe Stone left and was replaced by Matt Gleason for a series of concert dates. In the fall of 2002 Jeremy Stone decided to go back to school and everything was put on hold. In the early winter Brian announced that he was leaving to play bass with Sault, Matt Gleason's band. That was the end of Hazelton.
Suddenly and without warning, Jeremy Stone got the notion to repress and sell Wasting Away... to independent net retailers (CD Baby, etc.) and once the initial pressing sold out Jeremy got a hold of both Brian and Oscar to pursue Hazelton once again. Oscar, however, has moved on to spend time with his family and on his career. Hazelton has enlisted the talents of singer/guitarist Steve Cissell to take over lead vocals.
Now, in 2007 Hazelton is looking ahead at making new music and playing songs from their back catalog. While Brian also plays in The Horrid Lorries, Be on the lookout for new music as well as dates coming up.
