About Me

My name is Eric. I'm an(other) indie singer/songwriter. I'm not on a label, never have been. I deplore writing this bio on my own behalf because I'm supposed to make me sound much cooler than I actually am in reality. Honestly, I'd rather watch The Simpsons instead. Or Sherlock Holmes (the Granada series starring Jeremy Brett as Holmes) on DVD. Or read, preferrably anything by Frederick Buechner, Annie Dillard, Anne Lamott, Flannery O'Connor, Wendell Berry or Wallace Stegner. Or grubby up my hands working in the yard. Or take pictures on my cheap plastic Holga medium format camera. Or observe birds (I'm an ornithologist at heart). Or play golf. Not too many folks know that I have a weakness for office supply stores and Best Buy. Since recently becoming a homeowner in east Nashville, I've discovered a newfound interest in hardware and home supply stores as well. I could browse the lawn & garden aisles of places like those for hours on end. But I digress.... I ought to be writing about music, specifically my own.I suppose I should be informing you of all my cool songwriter-ness. I would be remiss were I not to mention all the nice people I've had the privilege of touring with over the years: Caedmons Call, Bebo Norman and Andrew Peterson. I say "over the years" b/c I've been plugging away since 1993 when I wrote my first song. I started out in a little duet. We named ourselves Ridgely. We had fun, we recorded an EP, a follow-up full-length record and then we broke up in 1998. I put out my first solo album in early 1999 and proceeded to make another 4 albums since then. But like Meriwether Lewis, I can't quite seem to give up the ghost on a career in the muck..... so now I'm releasing album number 7. It's called "Scarce". I am a glutton for punishment. That's my story, or at least part of it. Either way, I'm thankful you're still paying attention. Thanks for reading my crummy "bio". Eric
