About Me

First off, The Civilians played their last show on September 1st, 2007. It was a hoot. Thank you for all your support, and please continue to keep in touch. All of our personal sites are listed below (and in the top whateva).
and now, here's the story:
Equal parts rock, pop, and kick-ass-ness, seeing the Civilians makes one wish they too could play music... so they too could sleep with the hot chicks that come to their shows." -Jason Dick from 101X.
The Civilians first kicked down the doors to the Austin music scene in 2002, quickly establishing a word of mouth reputation that drew crowds to such venues as Stubbs, Flamingo Cantina, and the dearly departed Steamboat. Founding Civilians Tommy Tynes (drums), and Travis McGuire (vocals/guitar) have kept the band alive over the years with various line-ups. The newest addition to the band on bass: Justin Martinez.
Their unique brand of pop-core has evolved over the years and is electrified by the bands camaraderie, spawning a cohesive sound and raucous live shows where there is never a dull moment.
The Civilians style could only have germinated in Austin, stemming from the trios diverse palette of musical influences in rock, funk, jazz, latin, and reggae. Pop-core would be an oxymoron in any other city with any other band, but perfectly describes the Civilians exuberant, versatile sound. They explore various genres but always maintain an intuitive pop sensibility that keeps crowds dancing and rocking out. They play fast and loose with conventions, scoff at so-called scenes, and take mischievous pleasure in toeing lines, creating a unique musical fusion that has something for everyone.
