About Me
Missing E is a thriving, homegrown production company seeking mutually beneficial partnerships with venue owners. Missing E will host exceptional performances and events which are of heavy interest and supported by the Austin night life. Missing E. will provide high sales and effective promotion for venue owners by using aggressive multi-media advertising for each event. Through an extensive and rapidly growing network of musicians, artists and friends, Missing E. has become a catalyst for successful events- both anticipated and remembered.
Missing E. productions was formed in August of 2006 with three friends from Austin, Texas. Their goals are simple; helping local bands be seen and heard in the Austin area as well as its neighboring towns. Justin Martinez, the founder and Co-owner, wanted to bring more shows back to Austin just like he saw when he first moved to the live music capital of the world. "You could come to Austin, go see a band like Harry Apes BMX, and go to the whole show because you knew the bands opening- who you had never heard before- were going to kick ass. Then those bands would gain new fans." Today, many Austinites talk about how there are no show cases like that anymore. The Red River district being the acception, has been doing more and more shows of this nature to date. People are starting to recognize this; we believe this is a good thing, and will do our part to encourage venues to do the same and follow suit.
Missing E. Productions was named after someone very special to Justin Martinez. "Many people ask me how I got the name for Missing E.. Sometimes, I get a little embarrassed to give the answer, then other times, people who are very close to me get it right away. I just couldn't think of any other name for it. This is a person I cared about so much that I wanted to name it after her."
Blair Kane became the next person to join in on Missing E. Productions. She is the Co-owner as well as Justin Martinez. Shortly after her arrival, Sara Flynn Flecther, was added to make Missing E.. Sara Flynn's knowledge of many local bands like Groovin Ground, The Civilians, Headnod Rodeo, Moving Matter and Dimitri's Acsent, has really helped Missing E. blossom as a production company. It wasn't until Missing E. put together their first show, that the production company built more of a reputation around town and amongst other great Austin bands.
The Ween Hoot Night was the first showcase the company put together, on November 17, 2006, at Ruta Maya. Justin Martinez, who is a huge Ween fan, wanted to put a show together paying tribute to his idols. "I never realized how stressful it was to put a show together until I we began plans for the Hoot Night. Having to prepare every little thing was more than I could handle, not to mention performing in it myself!" They weren't too sure how many people would show up... luckily, they had great bands on the bill to bring an enthusiastic crowd. "We were hoping for atleast one hundred people to show. When we saw how many actually came, we knew we did something right." The line-up was spectacular that night; Dan Marakis, Jack Burton and the Porkchop Express, Headnod Rodeo, Flavor Conductors and Groovin Ground- you really couldn't ask for anything better!
With the success of the Ween Hoot Night, Missing E. is looking forward to the future. Having since, been booking bands at the late great Tambaleo and hosting Wednesday nights. "We have had a great time with Tambaleo. This is a venue that we have been coming to for a long time, to be a part of it makes us very happy". Missing E. is not just about putting shows together here and there. They are looking to bring new things to Austin; bringing together all kinds of art, bands and people. The Missing E. Crew is getting ready for some art shows, fashion shows, and the many ideas that are locked away, brewing up a storm in their heads... "
