Right at the bottom of night -- I was lost....

"Right--
At the bottom of night
I was lost
Perilous
Distraught
And taking my armor down..."

-------
Amanda Lepre (pronounced "leh-PREE") is a frontwoman, singer, songwriter, and guitarist with a compelling, almost heinous take on the "singer/songwriter" genre as we know it. Her voice is distinctive and commanding; comparable to the tone of Sarah McLachlan, the magnitude of Alanis Morissette, and the hypnotic intensity of Tori Amos. Her guitar skills are even more vigorous and unmatched in her acoustic genre. Her pounding rhythms are like flying fists. Each strike is like a pummel, fueled by driving beats and intricate melodies.
If she were a superhero, Amanda Lepre would be the good guy -- the good guy who does all the wrong things the right way -- the hero who is so unconventional and eccentric, yet so captivating, that you can't help but become infatuated.
Born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, this half-Mexican, half-Italian taught herself guitar at age 13 without any formal instruction. She wrote her first song at age 16, and moved to Austin alone at age 19 without a single musical connection but with a heart brimming with hope.
As a live solo act, Amanda stays compliant to the true purpose of a performer: to entertain a crowd. She does this effortlessly with a showcase of complex guitar work, simultaneous with spot-on vocals, and original songs that are distinctive and unforgettable. Not only can she coax a small audience into the palm of her hand by snagging a first-place win at Emergenza's 2007 Austin Acoustic Hero showcase, but her tactics were able to outrank dozens of full hard-rock bands to place second at MTV's 2004 Independence Rock Festival at South Padre Island.
Now in her 20's, Amanda (with the help of fellow Austin singer/songwriter Andrew Stone on lead guitar, bassist Rich Heller and drummer David Conger) is in the studio working relentlessly on her first full-length album and continues to write and perform in search of her dream.

Influences: The spectrum is wide. We start at the basic female requirements: Alanis Morissette, Joan Jett, Sarah McLachlan, Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, and Fiona Apple were some of the root artists that influenced Amanda to even pick up a guitar in the first place back in 1997.

She soon after discovered metal. The intensity of the palm-muted speed strumming, the accurate, intricate melodies, time signatures, and perfectly structured songs all made her instantly fall in love with this genre. Artists like Metallica, Judas Priest, and Iced Earth gave her motivation to learn to play this complicated style.

Sounds Like: Her songwriting, voice, presence, and style have been compared to artists ranging from Joan Jett, Tori Amos, Alanis Morissette, to as far as Iron Maiden.
