About Me

James was born in Memphis, grew up in Detroit, and spent an awfully long time in Los Angeles.A lifelong musician, James played music with a number of folks who were once on major labels, but have sadly slipped below the radar. James humorously notes that he, "...was never even ON the radar...".An interesting factoid about James is that he is an accomplished electronics designer, and built the amplifiers and microphone preamps used on his recordings. BE SURE TO SEE HIS AMPLIFIER AND PEDAL PICS! James is a former Soldano and Ampeg desiger/builder, and also builds and repairs pedals and guitars. He aspires to be like his friend, mentor and hero, H. Alexander Dumble.James would like to collaborate with some vocalists of varying styles in order to complete the huge backlog of material he has recorded.A textbook example of a Sagittarius, James shares birthdays with Keith Richards, Brad Pitt, Eliott Easton, Bill Nelson and Katie Holmes.James holds a Bachelor of Arts, Liberal Arts from The University of Arkansas...

Influences: Everything from Bach to Bowie. To elaborate a bit: I'm heavily influenced by ALL BOWIE eras, especially The Spiders From Mars era, featuring Mick Ronson, a Rock God; Bill Nelson in the Be Bop Deluxe era, because he took Clapton's Cream-era playing and added to it; Eric Clapton during the Cream era, because this is how lead guitar is to be played; Elton John and his original band during the 70's, because they were so good and they made people feel so good; Mick Ralphs from the Bad Co. era, because he did it right; Ariel Bender during the Mott era, for putting just the coolest twist on it; Leslie West in the Mountain era for showing me how it's done; Mel Galley for gettin' way back to the bone with Glenn Hughes during the Trapeze era...Was it rock? Was it funk? Yes!!! The Brothers Johnson for being the coolest L.A. funkmeisters; Come Taste The Band-era Deep Purple for making me want to scream...it just cannot get any cooler than that; the original Alice Cooper band for being so damned sleazy and still having everybody like them; Bach for being so heavy and for being the guv'nor of all time on the bass notes; Poco around album VII for melding rock, country-tinged pop and really deep emotions into pure, solid gold. I love you guys; aw, you know---Aerosmith on the first few records; early Bryan Adams 'cause it fits ya good...Joan Armatrading for her absolutely stellar career, and it ain't over yet! Mary Chapin Carpenter for knowing just exactly how to rip my heart clean out and show it to me before I die; The Italians: Corelli, Albinoni, Scarlatti, Manfredini, Locatalli, etc. My Irish brothers and sisters: U2, Clannad, The Cranberries, Enya, etc. Hell, KC and The Sunshine Band; The Cult; way too many kick-ass bands and artists to list here. Lest we forget---my heroes: Chuck Berry for turning me on---or ruining my life---however you want to look at it, and Keith Richard, Chuck's main disciple, and my teacher.
Sounds Like: A cross between Jimmy Page, Merle Travis and total incompetence...LOL...
