About Me

Thank God the music thing is working out because if that fell through, I was going to become a tranny-elvis-impersonator-hooker.

"What’s in a name? A lie, if we’re talking about The Jane Doe’s. The L.A. quintet may take their name from the generic term for a woman whose name is unknown, but their brooding blue-eyed soul is anything but anonymous. Singer/guitarist A.R. Tubbs possesses one of the most distinctive voices in the city – it trembles like Ben Harper’s, glides into a gossamer falsetto in fine Jeff Buckley fashion, and all the while makes heartbreak and obsession sound strangely alluring as it winds its way through torchy, slow-burning funk/soul odysseys. And let’s not forget the rest of the band - there’s a reason why these guys are headlining an entire night full o’ funk. The Jane Doe’s can pull off moody slinks and crackling hot jams with chameleonic ease." --PREFIX MAGAZINE
