I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm an Illinois raised girl, transplanted from Champaign-Urbana to North Carolina in 2007. I love NC because there are trees, hills, and no winter.

I'm down to earth and have a passion for music, both listening to it and playing it with friends. In IL I was in a band called Pulsar47, which I miss dearly. Nature also means a great deal to me. I want to make a positive impact on the world. I'm a science nerd. A definite non-hipster. A book worm. A bleeding heart liberal. An amateur Buddhist. A treehugger with a degree in the field.

My Interests

Music, nature, reading... uh did I say music?

I'd like to meet:

I love meeting new, interesting people that I can learn things from.

Music:

Centaur, Hum, Mogwai, Silversun Pickups, Shipwreck, New Ruins, Headlights, Sigur Ros, Guitar, The Flaming Lips, Grandaddy, Lanterna, Juno, Failure, The Dismemberment Plan, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Menthol, The Poster Children, Yo La Tengo, Rainer Maria, Modest Mouse, Absinthe Blind,, The Verna Cannon, Pink Floyd, Guided by Voices, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Hey Mercedes, Belle and Sebastian, Faithless, The Beatles, M83, Spiritulized, Braid

Books:

sci fi stuff. nature stuff. old stuff. new stuff. plant ID guides. political stuff. trashy sci fi/fantasy paperbacks that would probably qualify as romance novels if they didn't involve time travel.

Heroes:

Carl Sagan, Thich Nhat Hahn, Mr. Schacht
