About Me

NYC's Phil Moffa is head of production team/live electronic group Vinyl Life and half of DJ team Ohzee & The Butcha. His growing arsenal of hardware equipment is the key to his signature sound. After lending legendary techno wizard his 909, Phil's production methods took a 180. "I considered doing a live PA for a long time, but after hearing Jeff Mills destroy a dancefloor with my 909, I knew that the best sounds come straight from the box and not from the digital samples." Butchasound Studios is outfitted with a long list of analog trinkets and no digital sounds go without analog processing and their own discrete mixing board channel. Butcha is currently producing an album for his group Vinyl Life as well as a live show. "What we do on stage is a representation of our studio sessions," he explains. "Vinyl Life is using hardware to perform our tracks to give an energy that is not possible from the dj booth," where he is no stranger. With partner DJ Ohzee, Phil has played in New York City's biggest and best clubs including Pacha, Crobar, Spirit, Exit, Roxy, Sound Factory, Filter 14, and many more.
2007 is projected to be a big year for Phil and the Vinyl Life Crew. Look out for Butcha & Richie Roxx's remix of "Music Is The Answer" by legendary vocalist Colonel Abrams as well as the anticipated album of original works. Also coming out theis year is the album "Canon Law" by Smash Mechanics which was mixed by The Butcha featuring Vinyl Life vocalist Phaze Future.
