I am the bass player for THE GAVIN PETRIE TRIO and THREE CHEESE OMELET. I lay it down as hard and as funky as I know how. It's an honor to play with such talented musicians. When I'm playing, I want to see everyone get up and dance. When you're moving, then I'm moved and we all move together.
THE GAVIN PETRIE TRIO is one of the most exciting jazz groups in the Buffalo area. You can hear the Trio play classic jazz standards, to funky originals that fuse the genres of jazz, funk, and pop.
GAVIN PETRIE is a band director, and plays in a few different bands around Buffalo. He filled the shoes of keyboard player in 2003 and has been the musical director for the Trio since they formed. Gavin writes the original tunes, and brings the sounds of the Fender Rhodes, Hammond B3, and classic piano to the Trio. Gavin plays keyboard with The Maniacs. They are a the longest running Grateful Dead tribute band in Buffalo. He also plays with Workingman's Dead, the newest Grateful Dead tribute band in town.
JOE QUADER is a public school orchestra director and brings those skills to the Trio. He is a versatile bassist who creates lines that are appropriate to whatever style of music he is playing. Joe is also a bassist on the worship team at his church. He recently joined THREE CHEESE OMELET.
JAYME KELLY has been playing drums around the Buffalo area for fifteen years. He brings his wide knowledge of music and experience playing live to every trio gig. Jayme also plays drums with Viva Noir. The Viva Noir is a Post-Punk, Art-Rock and Brit-Pop inspired four-piece band.
SARAH PETRIE often sings with The Gavin Petrie Trio. Sarah is one of the only local vocalists who sings such a wide variety of music. You'll hear tunes from Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Joss Stone, to Gershwin and Diana Krall.
OTHER MUSICIANS to have shared the stage with The Gavin Petrie Trio are UB professor Dave Schiavone and local jazz legend Dr. Joe Baudo. Come on out and see for yourself what is happening in the world of Jazz within the Queen City.
THREE CHEESE OMELET is a new project that I'm involved in. It includes Doug Egling on sax/flute/wind synth, Mike Putnam on guitar, and Scott Parker on drums. THREE CHEESE OMELET is an ensemble that creates music in the moment. We create music through improvisation that employs the use of live electronics and looping while maintaining a solid groove.
