About Me

"Hi, I'm Robbie Allen. Welcome to my official myspace site. For the past year or so I was a vocalist and lead guitarist for the alternative rock band 'Underground Fire.' We spent much time collaborating, writing, and touring most of California between July 2007 and February 2008. My compadres and I split up after only two short EP CD's. I now consider myself a freelance guitarist and solo artist. I've earned the nick name "Shredder" playing guitar for bands in the Sacramento area and I'm also working on tour dates for my solo music. I've been influenced by instrumental rock from the 1960's along with the undergound surf revival of the 1990s. My biggest influence was The Ventures. I hope to do my part to help keep these sounds alive decades from now. Even if instrumental surf and guitar music never again returns to the modern mainstream, at least it will not be completely forgotten. If you dig this style of music then support, not only myself, but other surf and instrumental rock bands and artists. Both those who are already established and those who are aspiring for better things. This site is maintained by myself and others. Feel free to email us and one of us will be sure to get back to you ASAP. Be sure to check out our official website too, located at m3california.com Thanks for your support and take care! -Robbie"

Crazy Weekend

It’s Monday morning and all I can say is "Wow." I’m exhausted. Being a freelance musician is a lot easier than trying to be the co-captain of your own band, but still demanding. Brushing u...

Surf Music Doesnt Have To Be As Cliche As It Sounds...

Surf music doesn't have to be as cliche as the title suggests. Over the past five decades surf bands and artists have plagiarized themes and titles using surfing-related lingo and have continued to fi...

Where do I get inspiration for the music I write???

Someone once asked me where I got the inspiration to write "Mako Blues," because the song starts out so slow, just droning the notes out on my reverb-soaked 12-string electric guitar, and keeps buildi...
