Phil 2:9-11Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.Luke 10:19"Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.Matt 28:18-20And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (I DEPUTIZE YOU) "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.2 Cor 5:18-21All these new things are from God who brought us back to himself through what Christ Jesus did. And God has given us the privilege (DEPUTIZED US) of urging everyone to come into his favor and be reconciled to him. For God was in Christ, restoring the world to Himself, no longer counting men's sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. (DEPUTIZED US.) We are Christ's (DEPUTYS) ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you-- be reconciled to God. For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God's righteousness into us! (TLB)I Jn 4:7-12Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. (NKJ)
A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun threadbare suit, stepped off the train in Boston , and walked timidly without an appointment into the Harvard University President's outer office. The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard &probably didn't even deserve to be in Cambridge .We'd like to see the president," the man said softly. "He'll be busy all day," the secretary snapped. "We'll wait," the lady replied. For hours the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They didn't, and the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it was a chore she always dreaded. "Maybe if you see them for a few minutes, they'll leave," she said to him. He sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone of his importance obviously didn't have the time to spend with them, and he detested gingham dresses and homespun suits cluttering up his outer office. The president, stern faced and with dignity, strutted toward the couple. The lady told him, "We had a son who attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus." The president wasn't touched. He was shocked. "Madam," he said, gruffly, "We can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery." "Oh, no," the lady explained quickly. "We don't want to erect a statue We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard." The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun suit, then exclaimed, "A building! Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical buildings here at Harvard."For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could get rid of them now. The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, "Is that all it costs to start a university? Why don't we just start our own? Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford got up and walked away, traveling to Palo Alto , California where they established the university that bears their name, Stanford University , a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about. You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them. A TRUE STORY By Malcolm Forbes
BETHLEHEM
Bethlehem is where God's only begotten Son Jesus was born to a lowly virgin named Mary (Mary was there with Joseph,
to whom she was betrothed, in response to a decree that a census be taken of the entire Roman world by the emperor Caesar Augustus.
Due to large crowds, however, there was no room for them in the inn so God's one and only Son Jesus was born in a stable. It was here that angels appeared to shepherds in the fields proclaiming the birth of Jesus.
NAZARETH
Nazareth is where Jesus grew up. After John the Baptist was imprisoned by Herod, Jesus moved from Nazareth to Capernaum.
CAPERNAUM
Capernaum is known as the home of Jesus and His apostles. While walking by the Sea of Galilee near Capernaum one morning,
Jesus called Peter and His brother Andrew to follow Him; He told them that He would make them fishers of men.
At this time He also called James and John the sons of Zebedee all four were fishermen on the sea of Galilee.) This is also the site of Matthew's call by Jesus.
Many miracles were performed and gracious words spoken by Jesus in Capernaum.
MOUNT OF BEATITUDES
The Mount of Beatitudes is located near Capernaum and is believed to be the site of the Sermon on the Mount, however,
the exact site is not known with certainty. On this hillside, Jesus taught His disciples what it is to be a true Christian disciple.
SYNAGOGUE (AT CAPERNAUM)
This is where Jesus taught and performed many miracles. The present day ruins of a synagogue in Capernaum are from a later period, however (around 400 AD.)
It is also possible that this site could have been the site of the original synagogue in Capernaum but it is not known.
SEA OF GALILEE
One night, Jesus walked upon the Sea of Galilee in order to reach and help His disciples who were in trouble in the midst of a storm.
Much of Jesus' ministry took place around the Sea of Galilee.
JORDAN RIVER
The Jordan River is where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Immediately following His baptism, heaven was opened and the Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) was seen descending like a dove and lighting upon Him (Jesus.)
A voice was, also, heard from heaven saying, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
JERICHO
Jericho was the town Jesus was leaving on His way to Jerusalem and the Cross when a blind man by the name of Bartimaeus began shouting, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
He wanted Jesus to heal his blindness. Jesus said to him, "Go, your faith has healed you" and immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
JERUSALEM
Jerusalem is the city into which Jesus rode on the back of a young donkey while crowds went before Him placing their cloaks and palm branches upon the road shouting,
"Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! 'Hosanna in the highest!" Jerusalem was the center of Jewish religious worship, the Temple being there.
THE ALTER OF THE BIRTH.
POOL OF SILOAM
The Pool of Siloam, which is located in Jerusalem, is where Jesus told a man born blind to wash
after He had anointed his eyes with mud that he might see. The Bible tells us, " So the man went and washed and came home seeing."
MOUNT ZION
Mount Zion is the easternmost hill lying in the old city of Jerusalem.
JERUSALEM TEMPLE
Jesus taught and healed many in the temple area. It was here that He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves saying to them,
"It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer but you are making it a den of robbers.'"
It was also here that the curtain separating the people from the holy of holies was torn in two by God from top to bottom at the moment of Christ Jesus' death on the cross of Calvary.
The Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70AD. It has never been rebuilt.
UPPER ROOM
The Upper Room is where Jesus and His disciples observed the Passover supper (The Last Supper) just prior to His arrest and crucifixion on Calvary.
It was here that "Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it and gave it to His disciples, saying, 'Take and eat; this is My body.'
Then He took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, 'Drink from it all of you. This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.'"
The room to the left, though built on the same site, is from a later period.
GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE
The Garden Of Gethsemane was a favorite spot of Jesus and His disciples;
it is a small olive grove located just outside of Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives. It was here that Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus.
VIA DOLOROSA
The Via Dolorosa was the route taken by Jesus as He carried the cross on His way to Calvary (Golgotha.)
GOLGOTHA
Golgotha (The Place of the Skull) is the site where Jesus was crucified. It was here that God's only begotten son shed His blood and died that we might have life and have it more abundantly.
GARDEN TOMB
The Garden Tomb is the site where many believe Jesus' body was laid after His crucifixion.
Three days later, Jesus rose from the grave for the grave was not able to hold Him.
MOUNT OF OLIVES
The Mount Of Olives, seen in the distance from inside Jerusalem, is the site from which Jesus ascended into Heaven forty days after His resurrection.
It is, also, to this Mount that He will return.
