The name of this Brooklyn based metal band speaks for itself, Ambient Death blends the finer points of dark sinister death and black metal with some amazing intricate and ambient interludes. The drumming is spectacular and the overall theme of this bands EP is darkness and evil, casting an eerie mood on proceedings. It's catchy and fun as well as heavy and relentless, but the ambient style woven into the overall sound really gives it that extra kick. You'll enjoy this, I certainly did.

Ambient Death is a relatively new formation consisting of veteran musicians of the NYC Metal Underground. Founded and led by vocalist/guitarist Lucas Klepacki, Ambient Death has independently released their first recording, EP entitled Time Eclipse in August 2007. Merely within 7 months of the release the band created quite a buzz in the metal blogosphere around the world, earning high rated reviews and radio play in various countries. Within the same time period Ambient Death was discovered by prestigious Metal Edge magazine and landed a full page feature in June 2008 issue’s editorial spot Rock On The Rise. Along with the magazine song Manhunt appeared on over 100,000 copies of the Metal Edge compilation CD featuring the mighty Opeth and listed 4 right before Testament.
After the recording of Time Eclipse with Lucas Klepacki on vocals/guitars/guitar synthesizer, Riyaad Edoo on bass and Jaimen Shinn on drums the band recruited Chris Carten to fill in the duties of the second guitar. The quartet shares a long time personal history and friendship yet this is the first time working together with the exception of Jaimen and Lucas who have played together since the age of 15.
The group blends finer points of black and death metal creating a melodic, sinister aura with the occasional accents of a guitar synthesizer. Fascination with the phenomenon of death is the key element of AD's lyrical content dealing mostly with physical as well as metaphysical aspects and mysteries of death. Ambient Death sustains loyalty and passion for one of the most complex, inspirational, aggressive yet poetic genre's of music.
The guys are also working on their full length album, announced by Klepacki to be more intense than Time Eclipse featuring guest vocals but still with Ambient Death characteristics. The release of the new album is planned to be some time in the Spring of 2009 which will be accompanied by a video for one of the new tracks.
"Ambient Death are a remarkably talented band playing a brand of death metal that many have abandoned since the early 90s. Fans of the aforementioned acts as well as those looking for a fresh sound amidst a sea of trend-jumpers, death-core and faux grind acts need look no further. Time Eclipse is a stunning debut EP that showcases a band with immense potential and a knack for great riffage and songwriting.â€
