About Me

Hi. Before the actual profile begins, let's listen in on the demented motley crue of Adam Rapp's "Essential Self-Defense" for a moment:
SADIE: Sorrel, he grimaced! People generally grimace when they're sickened by something. For instance, I often grimace when I watch that intestinal surgery show on cable access. Or when I come across a neighbor's cat frozen to the side of a tree in the middle of January. It's such a disaster! Just a few days ago he held my arm and told me it should be painted.
SORREL: Sadie, you have to admit, the guy's a little strange. Don't get me wrong, I like him. And Issak thinks the world of him.
ISSAK: I think he is a very special person with a heart of lemon. I mean lion.
SADIE: And he has such a gift for music.
ISSAK: I understand he is a rock-and-roll sensation.
SORREL: That's all very true, but you have to admit, it is possible that there might be a screw loose somewhere. I mean, the guy's read "Mein Kampf" and exhibited sympathy for Hitler.
SADIE: He said that guy "really struggled"
SORREL: But isn't that a little weird?
SADIE: I think that's what's so special about him. He can empathize with even the most horrible social criminal in the history of the modern world.
SORREL, No, you're right. You probably just scared him. I mean, you said the guy doesn't even have bath towels. And he lives in that weird basement apartment near the sewage plant.
SADIE: He's had a rough life, he really has. His father was mauled by wolves and he was recently attacked by a gang of kung-fu Rollerbladers with nunchakus. He obviously has trust issues. Not to mention his thyroid affliction...And his rat problem...And his difficultly acquiring gainful employment...
SORREL: Drink, Sadie.
ISSAK: Yes, Sadie. We drink and then we cry. And then we turn our lives into beautiful poems to be carved into sides of trees and buildings...

Welcome to my non-linear world. I'm tall, creative and enjoy making people laugh although I'm often pretty serious. Free-spirited, anti-chic, open-minded, scatter-brained and mostly optimistic. My most prized possessions are past experiences I've had and the notepads they've been written on. I love theater & music-especially anything by Radiohead and Patrick Wolf. I love living in NYC and try to take advantage of all the city has to offer. I enjoy learning from my mistakes. The world gets bigger the older I get, not smaller. Good friends & partners in crime are always welcome on the journey so don't be shy to say hello.
- RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME THAT YOU [might] FIND INTERESTING:
* I am a big theatre and concert-goer. I see 100+ shows a year.
* I grew up Mormon but left the church when I was 17 years old.
* I don't drink or use drugs anymore. No, I'm not bummed about it.
* I get REALLY obsessed with things.
* I went to Elementary School in Kauai, Hawaii and lived in the jungle.
* I'm writing a play.
* I've never played the lottery and don't plan to.
* I've got a good singing voice and I can sort-of play piano.
* I've travelled a lot (mostly Europe).
* I've worked as an actor, educator and delinquent.
* I once flew from SF to NYC just to see a Duncan Sheik concert.
* I'm a wanderer.
* My 80gb iPod is completely filled with music.
* I believe in miracles.

CURRENT OBSESSIONS:
Albino alligators. Urban Legends. Adaptation in the dark.
Writing my play.
I've just started and am already in love with this peculiar novel by one of my favorite writers.*
I love how life is constantly changing. How one day you think you have nothing and the next you realize your eyes weren't open to what was around you. I think that as long as we have air in our lungs and the lungs to breathe, that we can make a difference in our lives and the lives of others. The past is the past...we learn from our mistakes and we try to make better ones. That's how I'm living my life now. Carpe Diem, myspace-cadets.
One of my favorite songs:
NOT EVEN JAIL - Interpol
"I'll lay down my glasses,
I'll lay down in houses,
if things come alive.
I'll subtract pain by ounces,
Yeah, I will start painting houses,
if things come alive
I promise to commit no acts of violence,
Be it physical or otherwise,
If things come alive
I'll say it now
I'll say it now
I'll say it now
Oh, I'll say it now
Cuz I want it now
When personality is scarred tissue,
We travel South with disuse
I'm subtle like a lion's cage
Such a cautious display
Remember take hold of your time here
Give some meanings to the means
To your end.
Not even jail.
We marshal in the days of longing,
We tremble like anyone's children,
And wink towards the fire.
I'm erring on the side of caution,
Betraying no other symptom,
But girl, you shake it right.
I will bounce you on the lap of silence,
We will free up to the beats of science,
And girl, you shake it right
I'll say it now
Oh, but hold it still, darling, your hair so pretty
Can't you feel the warmth of my sincerity?
You make motion when you cry
You're making people's lives feel less private.
Don't take time away
You make motion when you cry
we all hold hands,
can't we all hold hands,
When we make new plans?
I pretend like no one else
To try and control myself.
I'm subtle like a lion's cage.
Such a cautious display.
Remember take hold of your time here,
Give some meanings to the means
To your end
Not even jail"
