About Me

Lelp Recordings: Spring 2002 - Autumn 2007Like so many small labels... Lelp Recordings started small, released some great albums by some fantastic bands, and then ended. Lelp was started during the Spring of 2002 in Portland, OR for the sole purpose of putting out good music by good people (simple enough)... and then later updated to add "that tour - or at least play out frequently." In the late Summer of 2004 the label relocated to Chicago, IL (Go White Sox!). The sounds of the releases could fit into the country / bluegrass / indie-folk categories. Our last release was a label compilation that was released in the Summer of 2006. Clampitt, Gaddis & Buck are going strong playing mostly in the Northwest but touring occasionally... The Pine Hill Haints seem to be non-stop playing / touring / and have recorded again with Calvin Johnson and signed to K Records... Stereofan is now a full band and released their second full-length on NYC’s Space Photo Records... Super XX Man has gone on to Hush Records where they released two more volumes... Who knows what Cuspidor has been doing, we have not heard from him in well over a year... Reclinerland’s has been put to rest, but their pop sounds are a band called Parks & Recreation (which we are not sure if they are around anymore)...Lelp Related MySpace Pages

R.I.P.

Today marks the last day of Lelp Recordings.  2008 will start with one less label in the world.  We had a great run and are very fortunate to have been able to release the albums we did...
