The "Essence of Troy Dancers", first known as the "Prancing T-Ettes", was founded in 1984 by Ms. Delphine Lewis Holden who came to Virginia State University from Jackson State University where she was a saxophone major. The Ladies of "Essence" are known for their unique style of dance and have enjoyed being known as the BEST in the CIAA for over 21 years.
