About Me

"She's moody and gray. She's mean and she's restless." I am a Taurus in every sense of the word. I don't sit idly well for very long. I have an uncanny ability to find things that are lost. I'm blonde and i love pink, but don't call me Barbie. And I dare you to try to gross me out.

My Interests

Reading; playing the piano...just got a brand new grand piano; Medical Anthropology; Music; pilates/yoga/working out; New York Times crossword puzzles...with a pen, of course; Fashion (Betsey Johnson is my favorite designer); Collecting Eeyores; fake hair; Margaritas...not from a mix; art of many forms; Travel; road trips; dive bars; driving too fast; my two cats named CooCoo and my puppies (Maxwell, a 2-year old pekingese and Lola, a 3-month old pomeranian); food, especially cheese (i'll eat anything that doesn't eat me first).

I'd like to meet:

People who vividly remember their imaginary friend (i had four), couldn't color inside the lines and like watching ants.

Music:

Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, ABC, XTC, Alphaville, Art of Noise, Roxy Music, Aztec Camera, the Beatles, the Beloved, Berlin, Sonic Youth, Willie Nelson, Renegade Soundwave, Scritti Politti, KMFDM, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Fischerspooner, Blur, Camper Van Beethoven, Cetu Javu, Camoflauge, Cure, Coil, Nurse with Wound, David Bowie, Devo, Dramarama, 808 State, Elvis, Front 242, GoGos, Herbie Hancock, Johnny Cash, Bob Mould/Husker Du/Sugar, Pixies, Adam Ant, Altered Images, New Order, Information Society, INXS, Inspiral Carpets, The The, Kraftwerk, Lightning Seeds, Led Zeppelin, The Smiths, NIN, Thomas Dolby, Ocean Blue, Squeeze, Peter Gabriel, Peter Murphy, Bjork, Psychedelic Furs, Prince, Ray Lynch, Romeo Void, They Might Be Giants, Thompson Twins, Tori Amos, Dee-Lite ...80s new wave music is my favorite, but i listen to everything from classical to metal to industrial to oldies. I'm a classically trained pianist and I attend a lot of live perfomances still. Chopin and Rachmaninoff are my favorite composers. I love the Old 97s (and no..they are not country). And Failure is my favorite band of all time. Love discovering new stuff that i've never heard before!! I'm not into a whole lot of new music...but i'm open for suggestions.

Movies:

War movies, especially ones about Vietnam (Apocalypse Now is my fav); 80s movies; foreign films (when i can find time to sit still long enough to read sub-titles); The Warrior and the Princess, The Professional (because I have a weakness for bad boys); Steel Magnolias; May; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (my bf-at-the-time looked at me as soon as the movie ended and said "You'd erase me if you could, wouldn't you?"); Igby Goes Down; Garden State (because I like the ending, although it is completely unrealistic...or is it?); Doom Generation; Priscilla Queen of the Desert; Harold and Maude; Requiem for a Dream; Willy Wonka; Legally Blonde (no...i don't care what you think and yes...i own both I and II); Pretty in Pink; Punch Drunk Love; Piglet's Big Movie, Chicken Little (saw em both IN the theater), Somewhere in Time (and yes...I am a sappy romantic in spite of everything); any Nicolas Cage (except that awful one where he was an ambulance driver or something...hated it); Boogie Nights; the Sea Inisde; Henry and June; any Wallace and Grommit (because the moon *is* made of cheese and cheese *is* my favorite food. And most recently, Short Bus and Running with Scissors.

Television:

Classic country infomercials, Sex and the City and old shows from the 70s and 80s. And war documentaries.

Books:

I read a lot....and lots of different kinds of stuff. A lot of it is somehow related to medical anthropology and multi/trans-cultural issues. Stephen J. Gould for scientific essays. Also currently really into Marianne Williamson...really neat spiritual stuff. Check out The Book of Bunny Suicides by Andy Riley...makes me laugh *every* time. oh...and my subscription to Vogue magazine is a guilty pleasure.

Heroes:

Jane Goodall; Sark; Tina Turner; Mother Teresa; People who are brave enough to follow their heart and chase their dreams; those who take care of their own and the ones around them.
