I'm a classically trained pianist and I attend a lot of live perfomances still. Chopin and Rachmaninoff are my favorite composers. I love the Old 97s (and no..they are not country). And Failure is my favorite band of all time. Love discovering new stuff that i've never heard before!! I'm not into a whole lot of new music...but i'm open for suggestions.
War movies, especially ones about Vietnam (Apocalypse Now is my fav); 80s movies; foreign films (when i can find time to sit still long enough to read sub-titles); The Warrior and the Princess, The Professional (because I have a weakness for bad boys); Steel Magnolias; May; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (my bf-at-the-time looked at me as soon as the movie ended and said "You'd erase me if you could, wouldn't you?"); Igby Goes Down; Garden State (because I like the ending, although it is completely unrealistic...or is it?); Doom Generation; Priscilla Queen of the Desert; Harold and Maude; Requiem for a Dream; Willy Wonka; Legally Blonde (no...i don't care what you think and yes...i own both I and II); Pretty in Pink; Punch Drunk Love; Piglet's Big Movie, Chicken Little (saw em both IN the theater), Somewhere in Time (and yes...I am a sappy romantic in spite of everything); any Nicolas Cage (except that awful one where he was an ambulance driver or something...hated it); Boogie Nights; the Sea Inisde; Henry and June; any Wallace and Grommit (because the moon *is* made of cheese and cheese *is* my favorite food. And most recently, Short Bus and Running with Scissors.
Classic country infomercials, Sex and the City and old shows from the 70s and 80s. And war documentaries.
I read a lot....and lots of different kinds of stuff. A lot of it is somehow related to medical anthropology and multi/trans-cultural issues. Stephen J. Gould for scientific essays. Also currently really into Marianne Williamson...really neat spiritual stuff. Check out The Book of Bunny Suicides by Andy Riley...makes me laugh *every* time. oh...and my subscription to Vogue magazine is a guilty pleasure.
